“Are you sad he’s officially moving out?” Sophia asks, wrapping her arms around my waist.
“Nah, I knew it was coming. Kai and Ivy have been looking at houses too,” I say, wrapping my arms around her.
“This is such a big house to be alone in.” She sighs.
“I’m not alone. I’ve got you,” I say, smiling and pulling her in for a kiss.
Chapter 19
Sophia
Three Years Later
“I have to cancel our girl’s night,” I tell Becca over the phone.
“What? Why? It’s been so long,” she whines.
“I know, but I’ve been throwing up for three days now. I feel like complete shit,” I tell her, splashing water on my face.
“Do you have the flu or something?” she asks.
“No, I’m not running a fever or anything. I’m just so nauseous and sick,” I say, sitting down on the toilet. “I’m exhausted too.”
“Umm, Soph, are you alone?” she asks.
I frown at the phone. I put her on speaker when I had to throw up a few minutes ago.
“Yeah, why?”
“I’ll be right over,” she says, before hanging up on me.
What the hell?
Thirty minutes later, I hear her come barreling down the stairs.
“Did you knock?” I ask, looking at her confused. “Why do you have a Wal-Mart bag?” I ask.
“I think you need to take a pregnancy test,” she says, shoving the bag in my face.
“Oh, hell no,” I say, trying to shove it back at her.
“Sophia, I’m serious,” she says.
“Fine, but why would you waste your money on this? I’m on the pill,” I tell her.
“You’re a nurse. Surely you know the pill is not a guarantee of no pregnancy,” she says, hands on her hips.
“Fine,” I say, flattening my lips, taking the bag and walking into the bathroom.
There’s no fucking way. None.
“Shit, shit, shit,” I say a few minutes later, pacing the bathroom.
“What did it say? Let me in,” she says, banging on the door.
“Fuck,” I mutter.
“Sophia, let me in,” she says.
