“I’m pregnant,” I say, tears filling my eyes.

His body freezes. His eyes travel my face.

“Say that again,” he says.

“I’m pregnant,” I whisper.

“We’re having a baby?” he asks.

I nod, unable to form any more sentences, scared of his reaction.

“This is amazing,” he says, leaning down to kiss me, a huge smile on his face.

“It is?” I ask, pulling back.

“Of course. Why wouldn’t it be?”

“I don’t know. I didn’t think you’d be happy,” I admit.

“Sophia, we love each other. This is amazing news,” he says, kissing me again.

“You don’t think it’s too much, too fast?” I ask.

“No. We’ve been together for a while now. I only wish I would have asked you to marry me before this happened,” he admits, frowning.

“Hey, don’t worry about that. You know that kind of stuff doesn’t matter to me,” I tell him.

“I know, and I know we’re going to get married. I just want to do right by you,” he says.

“There has been a lot going on around here. You’ve had two brothers get engaged––one of them get married––and everything with Kinsley. There hasn’t been time for us to get married,” I say, laughing.

“There was plenty of time for us to make a baby though,” he says, wiggling his eyebrows.

“You’re impossible,” I say, laughing and hitting his chest with my hand.

“Seriously, baby, I’m over the moon happy,” he says, wiping a tear from my eye with his thumb.

“It is pretty exciting, isn’t it?” I say, smiling.

He leans down, kissing me softly. “It is.”

“Now we just have to tell your family,” I say, pulling away.

He sighs, running his hand through his hair.

“Kins still isn’t speaking to me. That might be a phone call you have to make,” he says.

“Give her time,” I say, putting my hand on his arm.

“It’s been a month. We’ve never gone this long without talking. I’m worried sick about her,” he admits.

“I know you are, but that was a really emotional time. You both said things you didn’t mean,” I say.

“I’m not sure she’ll ever forgive me,” he says.

“She will. I promise,” I tell him.

I think this baby might have just been the blessing our family needed. The one thing that could bring us all together again.
