“Daddy,” Paige runs up to me. “Stay and play in the fort with us.”
I laugh and kiss the top of her head. “I promise I’ll play in the fort later this evening when I get home.”
“Yay!” Paige jumps up and crawls back into the fort.
I haven’t been with a woman in months, and now with Quinn in the house walking around looking sexy as fuck, my willpower is being tested.
“Paige and I will be okay.” She smiles. “I know you’ve been working at home for the last couple of weeks to keep an eye on things.”
She’s wearing a tank top and denim shorts. Her toned arms and tanned legs are on full display. I let my gaze wander to her ample curves and feel the familiar stirring of desire.
She notices me staring at her and smiles shyly, intensifying my need for her. Just looking at her body is enough to set a fire within me.
Damn, she caught me looking.I look her in the eyes. “I usually stay home for a few weeks to help Paige with the transition.”
Her lips are curved into an inviting smile. “That’s sweet of you. You’re a good father.” She touches my shoulder.
My muscles tense as desire courses through me, and my hands twitch with the urge to reach out and touch her smooth skin.
I clear my throat. “Thank you.” I back away and force my gaze to the front door.
“I will see you later then, Ezra,” she says softly.
I nod, walk out of the room, and tell myself it can’t happen.
I’m the first to arrive at the restaurant. It’s one of my favorites, a cozy Italian restaurant with delicious food. I order red wine and wait for my brothers to arrive. Within minutes, Ivan is here, and then Dane follows shortly afterward.
“Did you get our engagement party invitation?” Dane asks.
“Yes,” I run my hand through my hair. “I forgot to send the RSVP, but I’ll be there, and it’s on my calendar.”
Dane says, “Good. Katrina is still getting comfortable with being a part of the family, so it will mean a lot to us if you are there.” He adds, “Bring Paige and Quinn. It’s a kid-friendly affair. We want everyone to feel welcome.”
“Cassidy and I are bringing the baby,” Ivan says.
I smile at my little brother, who used to be all about partying and womanizing. Now, he’s a proper family man.
Dane looks at me. “Just so I have a head count,” he begins. “Are you bringing Paige and Quinn?” My heart skips a beat as I consider his question. I want Quinn to come, but not just as Paige’s nanny—I want her to be my plus one. But of course, I can’t say that out loud.
“I’ll bring Paige, but only if Quinn can come. There will be other kids there, but Paige doesn’t know them, and she is shy at first,” I explain.
Dane nods in agreement.
“I’ll talk to Quinn about it tonight.”
The waiter approaches the table and takes our orders.
Once he is gone, Dane asks, “What business idea did you want to talk about with us?”
I lean back in my chair. “It’s something I’ve been thinking about for some time,” I explain. “But now that we are all successful business owners and well-established in our fields, I think it’s time to take the idea a step further.”
I explain my plan for NexTech and how Ivan’s investment firm and Dane’s health empire can help make it possible.
My brothers are intrigued by the idea, and they agree that it has great potential. We spend the rest of the meal discussing ideas and details, and before we know it, two hours have passed.
I’m on my way home after an early dinner with my brothers when I get a call from my father. I place the call on speaker.
“Hey, Dad.”
