Before I could answer him, Mac burst through the main locker room door calling my name. I lunged for the towel, wrapping it around all my pertinent parts. The timing couldn’t have been better because I was on the verge of saying to hell with caution and jumping Parker.

Since I didn’t want either of the guys to figure out how close I’d come, I yelled to my inadvertent savior. “Dammit, Mac. I’m naked in here.”

“Don’t worry. I can’t see shit from this side of the wall.”

I shared a look with Parker, whose face split into the smug grin I’d expected. He started pulling on his clothes, but mine were still in the locker I used.

“Go away,” I yelled, though I wasn’t hopeful it would work. Mac had selective hearing when people gave him orders. Only Coach, Parker, and Eva could get him to do anything.

“I wanted to catch you before you disappeared like you always do.”

“By interrupting my shower?”

“You’re done now, aren’t you? Hurry it up, girl. Eva and some of her cheer friends want to go out, and we can still make karaoke.”

I crossed my arms and peeked around the corner to see Mac standing in the middle of the locker room with his eyes clenched shut.

“Message received, Mac, now get out.”

He hesitated then cracked one eye open, spotting me immediately. “Isn’t Shaw in here with you somewhere?”

I glanced back to see Parker fully dressed. He took a step toward the lockers, and I sent him a death glare that stopped him in his tracks.

“Don’t you dare go swaggering out there,” I hissed.

Mac took my hesitation as an answer. “RJ, I don’t care what you and Shaw are up to. Just give him the message, okay?” His footsteps retreated to the door, and he left with a final bellow. “We’re celebrating tonight, baby!”

I eyed the impressive bulge in Parker’s sweats. “We could try talking him out of it.”

He shook his head with a laugh. “Good luck with that.”

As much as I wanted to get Parker home to finish what he’d started, Mac had the right idea. We’d had a big win tonight, and the team deserved to celebrate. They’d expect their captain to show up.

Besides, I could use the cool down time to consider what Parker had said.WasI holding myself back by denying our connection on the field?

Mac, Noah, and Eva met us outside the locker room, and a small contingent of cheerleaders huddled farther behind them near the entrance to the tunnel.

Riley glared at Mac. “Why didn’t you send Eva in, jackass?”

He shrugged. “Shaw was in there, I figured you were covered up.”

I pinched the bridge of my nose. “Do me a favor. Don’t follow me into the women’s locker room under any circumstances.” He opened his mouth, most likely to make a smartass comment about emergencies, but I wasn’t in the mood after his cockblocking. “Undernocircumstances.”

Mac nodded and offered a snappy salute. “Yes, Cap’n. Sorry, RJ.”

She smiled at him. “At least you announced yourself first.”

Eva watched the whole exchange with a feline smile. “What wereyoudoing in there, Shaw?”

I licked my lips and sent her a grin back. It was all the answer she’d get. Technically, everyone in our little group knew about my relationship with Riley, but sound carried in the tunnel.

Eva fanned herself and turned to Mac. “Can you give us a ride? I want to change before we had over to Johnny’s.” She pointed her chin at the dwindling group of cheerleaders and hooked her arm through Riley’s.

Riley frowned. “I’m not really in the mood to get fancy.”

It was a solid try, but there was no way Mac and Eva would let Riley out of partying on karaoke night after she’d scored us the game-winning touchdown. The entire bar would be buying her shots.
