“Do you have an appointment?” A young lady at the desk asks.

“I do. My name is Summer Frost.” She does a few clicks and then smiles.

“Yes, I have you here. Please take this name tag and go to the elevator on the right. He is on the third floor. Have a good day.” Smiling back at her, I nod and do as she instructed.

Off the elevator, I pay no attention to the room around me. My mind is busy running through all of my arguments, trying to remember what I need to say. There is only one door, so I knock. No one says anything for a second, and then a voice so deep rumbles through the door, sending shivers through my body. “Enter.” It shocks me so much I don't move for a second, my body frozen in a state of…something. “I said enter,” the voice asserts again. I should wait so my breathing slows down, but instead, I open it. Big mistake. “Can I help you?” Holy hell! He is hot as hell. Those photos are a lie. He is a freaking giant, like a Norse God giant. Seriously looks like Mark-Paul Gosselaar if he was a defensive lineman. He is solid everywhere. Holy moly. “Are you lost little girl?” I was right about his eyes; they are sad, but…wait! Did he just call me a little girl? That brings me back.

“I beg your pardon. My name is Summer, and I am here about my grant.” His gaze is unnerving. It is making my stomach clench. Instead of answering me, he stands, and my head moves back, trying to match his height. He moves towards me, and I find myself freaked out a little. I take a few steps back, and he descends on me. His thumb rubs my cheek, and I gasp, transfixed by the affection on his face.

“Finally.” Now in this situation, any other woman would melt, be flattered and see where this goes. I won’t lie; my body is loving his proximity. My nipples are straining against my bra, and I can barely catch my breath. I briefly lean into his touch, and then he whispers in my ear. “I found you.”

So what do I do?

Run.

CHAPTER 4

BALDER

“Stop!” I shout and am pleased when she stops in her tracks but doesn’t turn around to face me. Fuck, I want to stare into those soulful eyes again. “Come here, Summer.” When she doesn’t move, I move toward her. Reaching out, I grab her wrist and spin her to face me.

“Mr. Jorgensen…” she begins, but I cut her off. She licks her lips, and I can’t help staring at them. They glisten with her saliva, and I feel a driving need to taste them. My cock hardens in my slacks because all I can think about is kissing her until her lips are swollen. I’m also thinking about dragging her to my desk and feasting on what is surely a sugary sweet cunt until she’s mindless for me and begging for my cock to fill her. I don’t even care if she has a boyfriend or a husband. I’ll make her mine even if it’s the last thing I ever do.

“My name is Balder,” I tell her. Why can’t I stop staring at her? She’s got these haunting, slightly sad eyes that I just can’t get enough of.

“Balder? What kind of name is that anyway?” she asks, her eyes meeting mine, and I swear to God I know that she is mine. MINE! She is one hundred percent the woman I’ve been waiting for my entire life. My sjelevenn—soulmate. My other half. Now, how the hell do I tell her that without freaking her the fuck out? She looks like Kelly Kapowski from Saved By The Bell, so she’s definitely gorgeous, but it’s more than that. I feel her on a cellular level. It’s primal, going back to the beginning of time. It’s like she’s been ingrained in my DNA. My brain is shouting for me to claim her. Now. I fucking want to do that. She has no idea what she’s doing to me right now. My body is on fire for her. I’ve never felt a need like this before. It goes beyond mere lust. Lust is tame compared to what I feel for her. She looks so innocent. I want to ruin for all other men. The longer I stare at her, the redder her cheeks get. Even her neck is flushed. I wonder how far down that blush goes. “Hello?” she asks, waving her free hand in front of my face. I wonder how long I stood there and stared at her like an idiot before she said something. Get your shit together, Jorgensen.

“Right, sorry. Balder was a Norse God. The son of Odin and Frigg.”
