“Personally, I think their captain is the looker on the team.”

She thinks I’m better looking?

“Damn, he must be one handsome son of a bitch,” I say.

She nods, stepping toward me. “He is. He’s so sexy too.”

“You think he’s sexy?” I ask.

“I do.”

“I have a feeling he thinks you’re sexy too.”

“Really?”

“Don’t tell him I told you.”

“Oh, I won’t.” She rises to her toes. “And I won’t be telling him about this either.” Tipping her face upward, she slips a hand behind my neck, urging me to close the distance between us. Easing my hands under her hair, I cup each side of her jaw. I drag my nose down hers, then brush across the gently pointed tip. Our lips come together softly and slowly, as if it’s the first kiss we’ve shared. Painstakingly, I map out every curve and nuance of her mouth with my own. There’s no need to rush. When she’s in my arms, time ceases to exist and nothing else matters.

Our first two kisses immediately turned passionate, and this time, I’m determined to show her the tenderness she deserves.

Chests pressed together, her heart beats just as fast as mine. Slanting my lips over hers, my tongue skims her bottom lip before dipping inside to tease the smooth flesh. She makes a breathy sound, testing my resolve. When she slips her hands underneath my t-shirt, drawing circles on my flesh with her fingertips, I know my tenuous hold is about to vanish. With a whisper-soft final press of my lips on hers, I pull back.

Her eyes remain closed for a moment before opening. It’s just the reaction I was hoping for.

She smiles up at me. “Thank you for a wonderful time.”

“I had a great time too. When do you want me to help you move your stuff?”

“Aside from my clothes and essential items, I’m leaving most of my stuff in my room. I should be able to shove everything into a couple of suitcases. I’ll be back here Tuesday night if that works.”

“I’ll be here. What do you want for dinner?”

“Kaiden, you’re setting a bad precedent by providing dinner on my first night staying here.”

“Let me spoil you a little. What do you want?” I ask.

“Pizza. And I’m buying.”

“Not happening.”

“Don’t be stubborn,” she says.

“I’m not. I know that a man taking care of the woman he cares about has somehow become outdated or is seen by some as being chauvinistic, but that’s not the case with me. I care about you and want to take care of you in any way I can. If that means feeding you once a day, then I’m going to make sure you have one hell of a dinner each night.”

“That’s sweet.” She runs her hand down my arm. “Oh, and I care about you too.”

CHAPTER11

RORI

Serena sitsdown in one of our deck chairs and rests her feet next to mine on the ottoman. “I still can’t believe my little Rori is moving in with Kaiden Hart, captain of the Charleston Coyotes.”

I snort. “I’m not moving in with him.”

“Are you packing up your things and taking them to his place?” she asks.

“Yes. But—”
