In my heart, we’ve been married since he proposed to me back in high school. “Just get here and we’ll discuss it over breakfast in bed.”
“Fair enough.” I hear rustling noises as if he’s pulling on his coat, then hear the jingling of keys.
“Hey, Rhence?”
“Yeah?” I hear him pull the door shut behind him.
“Just make sure you avoid my mom, anddefinitelydon’t accept any strange letters that appear to come from me.”
He chuckles softly, clearly grateful that I’m at a place where I can make light of the incident. “You’re too good for me, Rache.”
I laugh. “You got that right, buddy, but I’llprobablymarry you anyway. Just get here as soon as you can.”
“I’m already on my way to the airport,” he replies as the car engine roars to life. “I love you, Rachel Bradly.”
“I’m going to miss the reverent way you say that name when I’m Rachel Dalton. But I’ll eventually get used to it.”
“You’d better, because you know this Rhence and Rachel tattoo on my heart?
“Yeah?”
“It’s forever…just like us.”
