Just then, a group emerged from the stairs that were tucked into the corner. “Saved by the group,” I whispered close to her ear.

Our group loaded onto the double-decker bus, spreading out over the top. I had made a call and managed to arrange a private tour just for us. Macy sat in the seat in front of mine. It was hard to be so close but so far from her. We had to maintain a professional relationship, though.

The tour guide was going on about the various landmarks. I was barely paying attention. I was focused on her hair blowing in the breeze. Every time the breeze blew, I caught a whiff of her perfume. I sat back and enjoyed the ride while listening to the excited conversations happening around me. I was glad I made the decision to come along.

Every once in a while, Macy would turn back to look at me. There was a bright smile pasted on her face. I liked seeing her smile.

I smiled back at her. “Having fun?” I asked.

“This is awesome!” To my surprise, she disobeyed the strict instructions from the tour guide and got to her feet. She slid into the seat beside me. “Have you done this before?”

I shook my head. “No. Not in a bus. I’ve been around the Strip in a limo for a nighttime cruise.”

“I walked around at night,” she said, laughing.

“We’ll have to do a nighttime cruise,” I offered. “Bright lights, big city, and all that. Seeing it in the day is cool, but at night it’s so much better.”

“I’ll have to try that.”

After the tour, we grabbed lunch before heading back to the penthouse to relax and get ready for dinner. It was strange to be in the penthouse with so many people. It was usually just me or maybe my brother or Dane. The place was full of life.

After changing into another suit, I made my way downstairs to make myself a drink. Macy was already there, standing in front of the windows and staring out at the city that was just starting to come alive. I took a moment to admire her in the short cocktail dress that hugged her body. Her hair hung loose down her back, begging to be pulled. We were the only two downstairs, but I couldn’t have her. If it was just the two of us, I would press her body against the glass, watching her in the reflection while I made love to her from behind.

She turned around and looked at me like she could read my mind. “You look dashing,” she said.

“You look stunning,” I replied.

There was a pregnant pause, a moment that sizzled with sexual chemistry. I could hear voices overhead. It was the only thing keeping me where I stood. I would have loved to race at her, pull her into my arms, and strip that dress off her.

We took a limo to the exclusive restaurant that soared over the city. Because of the size of our party, we were seated at four different tables. Macy and I somehow ended up at a table alone. I wasn’t sure if that was the work of the others picking up on some vibes and wanting us to be alone or simply coincidence. Or maybe they didn’t want to sit with me. That seemed pretty plausible.

“Wow,” Macy breathed when she scanned the menu.

The prices were steep. I had money, but I could understand the shock when someone opened up one of these menus. “It’s on me,” I reminded her. “This is part of the winner’s package.”

I didn’t miss the murmurs from some of the other staff sitting at the tables behind ours. “Anything you want, guys. Take advantage of me. You all deserve it.”

Everyone ordered entrees and cocktails while enjoying the view.

“Is this normal for you?” she asked.

“Which part?”

She shook her head. “All of it. I suppose this restaurant is what you’re used to.”

“Yes and no,” I said, shrugging. “I can eat a two-hundred-dollar steak or a gordita from Taco Bell. They’re both good and they both have a time and place.”

“I guess,” she said.

“Want to try some wine?” I asked.

“No, this is delicious. What was it called?”

“I think it was a Summer Solstice,” I replied.

“Amazing.”

Our meals were delivered, and everyone commented on how good it all was. I could pretend this was just me and her. We were on a romantic date in one of the most romantic restaurants in the country. I imagined doing this with her on a more regular basis. I let the idea marinate, and to my surprise, it didn’t freak me out.
