He nods and makes a noise like a pig digging for truffles.

"You'll be in charge of coming up with a schedule for them, the total package please. I will send you the details when I have them."

He snuffles again but his eyes don't seem to miss a thing.

"Thank you, Frank, that'll be all," Kylian dismisses him and he shuffles to the door.

I open my mouth to say thank you when Kylian presses his index finding to his mouth, shushing me, and then bangs on the side of the door, yelling, "Did you really doubt I could take care of you, bitch?!"

I’m so stunned my breath freezes in my throat.

Kylian winks at me and takes a step back just in time for the door to come flying open, and the man-beast Frank barrels into the room, eyes wide and raging, hands on his weapon.

Again, he stops in his tracks when he sees Kylian standing back, and me perfectly safe on the couch.

“Hello, again, Frank. What can we do for you?”

He grunts again and then finally says, “I thought...”

"You thought I was hurting Miss Yin,” Kylian finishes.

I expect him to show some embarrassment, but he doesn't, his balled-up fists just fall to the sides, but his head holds high.

"I'm sorry to have scared you, Frank, but I just wanted to make it blatantly clear to Miss Kiara that she and her employees will be safe, even if it's me endangering them. Please always react that way again if you get even the tiniest inkling that something might be wrong."

Frank takes another breath, giving me a once over and backs out.

"Oh my god! You could've given me some warning!" I yell, jumping to my feet and whacking Kylian's arm.

"Ow! Careful, Frank might hear you and come crashing in here to save me."

I shake my head in disbelief. "Nuh-uh. You said to protect me from you, not the other way around."

He lowers his voice until it’s almost inaudible and I have to lean in to hear him. "That's because you don't need protection from me."

The words slice into me and I spring back to avoid getting hurt. "That leads me to the last, and most important condition."

"Lay it on me."

I take a deep breath and hope to get through it in one breath before my courage gives out. "We agree that under no circumstances are we going to have a physical relationship. No kissing, no sex. Never what happened the other day. This is a purely professional relationship."

Kylian bridges the gap between us with one step, his hand coming up to cradle my head and he leans in, his mouth by my ear. Even before he speaks, my whole body is vibrating. Just the touch of his hand grazing the back of my neck sends reminders of what it felt like to be touched by him.

"Do you really want me to promise that I'm never going to stand this close to you again?"

My mouth opens but no sound comes out.

He continues, "No. Deal. I am not signing anything that tells me that I have to keep my hands off you. Don't you know that I'd sign away my life to finally get to kiss you for the first time? Don't you know how much I want to do that?"

I force the question out of my mouth, "Are... you planning to... kiss me?"

He exhales; it whistles past my ear. "I’m not saying that I have any plans, I’m saying I’m not making any deal that requires me to stay away from you. I’m a man of my word and I promise you, I can’t keep myself away from you." He takes a deep breath, like he's breathing me in and then pulls away with a sigh. "So, it's up to you. But please don't make me sign something that will make me miserable for the rest of my life."

Kylian

I drive Kiara back to her apartment after we end the discussion and finish giving her a tour of the casino. In the car she sits with her arms folded, face scrunched in thought, thinking about what I'd said earlier, and maybe whether or not she should believe me.
