He nods. "Okay."

"Is that all you have to say?" I poke him in the chest.

"Yes. I already said everything before you decided to be a brat and fight me."

"Come on, you know what that was really about."

He props himself up onto his elbows and looks down at me. "About you not trusting me?"

"You haven't exactly been a beacon of trust."

"I know. But I've explained everything now. You know as well as I do that... if something had happened then, we'd be in a tornado of shit. And that shit would be called Nathan.'

"That tornado of shi-, I mean, Nathan still exists. It's not like he's gone anywhere."

He collapses down onto his back and pulls my head to his bare chest. "Yes, but me pining for you for five years before I made a move has got to buy me some points rather than jumping his drunk sister who was in a club in the wrong side of town."

"You were pining for me?"

He closes his eyes and shakes his head. "Really? That's what you're focusing on?"

I giggle. If he pined for even a day, I want every single detail. It’s nice to know I wasn’t the only one. "Come on, tell me how you pined for lil ol' Kiki."

He opens his eyes and looks at me, propped up on his chest. "I thought you hate when I call you that?"

"I like it now.” I admit. “But no one else is allowed to call me that name."

"They better fucking not. I’ll snip their balls off with a pair of nail clippers. But since you like it, I'm going to have to find a different nickname now."

"I like ‘angel’ too."

"Me, too." His hand is against my cheek, gentle, tender.

"Wait... you didn't answer the question!" I shout, once I realize.

"I don't remember what the question is,” he jokes.

I slap his shoulder, he catches my hand and brings it to his lips, and pulls me closer.

"Yes, I pined. I pined like that most pathetic motherfucker who’s had his heart stomped on by a woman that you’ve ever seen. I was fucking useless for the longest time. So much that everyone around me had no idea what to do with me. I was told to go away for a few months and sort my shit out because I was alienating everyone.”

I absorb all of his words and gather them to hoard in a pocket next to my heart.

He continues, “Anyway, I did. I came back still miserable, but kept the pining to myself.”

I ask something else I’ve been wondering, "Why didn't we ever see each other until now? You've been living here for three years, and I've been here for a year."

"You know why."

"The tornado of shit."

He laughs and crosses his arms behind his head. "I'm glad that you're on board with my nicknames for both of the Yin siblings."

I scrunch up my face. "I'm not sure he's going to feel the same way."

"I don't know. I'm pretty sure I've called him a tornado of shit to his face many times."

"I meant the ‘angel’ part!”
