“Jesus, Nova.” Cian growled into the phone. I looked over my shoulder, biting my bottom lip at the look on his face. He ran his fingers through his hair and groaned, which only turned me on more. I swiveled my hips in a circle, every part of the toy so delicious as I rubbed myself against it.

“Tell me how it feels against your pussy, Nova,” he demanded, and I moaned out at the commanding authority in his voice.

“It feels so good, Cian. I’m going to cum so quickly.” I moved my hips faster. The ridges stroking against my clit had every cell in my body burning up.

“God damn, you are so beautiful.”

I leaned down further against the bed, exposing myself fully to him. There was something about it that was thrilling. The watching. The knowing he wanted to fuck me but couldn’t. It made me feel powerful, like I had control over him. And I was enjoying every second of it. I slid against the toy, teasing not only myself, but him. He wanted a show? Well, I was going to give him one.

I turned to face the camera, letting my robe fall to the side as I did so. His eyes devoured every inch of me, and I moved faster against the toy. My breasts were heavy in my hands as I rolled my nipples between my fingers, making me moan out. He was still leaning back in his chair, his jaw clenched.

“Are you touching yourself?” My hand slid down my body, grazing my clit. “I want to see you too.”

“I’m not going to cum until I’m buried deep inside that beautiful pussy, Nova,” he growled out. “Now come for me. I want to hear my name on your lips.”

“Yes, Mr. Blackwood.”

He closed his eyes, then opened them slowly. A fire burned deep inside of them, and it was all for me. The thought alone was enough to make me unravel as I stroked my clit faster and faster. My orgasm built, from the tips of my toes straight to the top of my head. I exploded, riding the Octopussy faster and faster, savoring every moment of my release, calling out his name as I did so.

I landed face down on my bed and buried my head in my blanket. I’d wanted chaos? Chaos was what I’d got.

“Sweet Nova,” he purred into the phone and I peeked at him, then covered my face. “Don’t hide from me. You’re so fucking perfect.”

I giggled and reached for my phone. “Not likely, but I’m glad you think so, Mr. Blackwood.”

His eyes darkened and he narrowed his eyes at me. “Wait until I get a hold of you again. I will not let go this time.”

“Promise?” I winked.

He looked up from his phone, a man’s voice raised in the background. “Fuck. I have to go.” He gazed at me, longing on his face. “Take care, little mouse.”

I nodded and ended the call, falling back onto my bed. There was a lightness in my chest that I hadn’t felt in a long time, and definitely not over the past few weeks. The only problem was that now I was more confused than ever. I had to figure this out. My only option was to go to the one person I could trust most in this world—my Grams. She would know what to do.

I fell asleep, a sense of calm coming over me. Maybe this was it. This was the answer. She would help me figure out the right thing to do. But first, I had to make it up to Juliet. There was a boulder in my stomach just knowing that she was angry with me, and I couldn’t let that continue.

I got to the office earlier than usual the next morning, arms loaded with pastries and coffee from Stan’s. Juliet might be mad at me, but if there was one thing I knew for sure, she couldn’t stay mad when I shoved a strawberry bear claw in her face.

Eight o’clock rolled around, then nine, and still no word from Juliet. This was going too far. Was she just ditching the entire business at this point? Her cell went straight to voicemail, and I left another message.

“Jules, I know you’re upset, but we need to talk. I hope you’re OK. Call me. Please.”

I bounced my leg up and down, staring at my phone every few minutes. At a quarter to ten, she texted.

Impromptu vacation with Riddick. Be back on Friday.

That was it. No “I’m sorry for making you worried” or “sorry for bailing on you when you need me the most.” I jammed my hands into my armpits and leaned back in my chair.

I hated leaving things like this. It wasn’t like any of this was intentional, or like I would put some guy over her. She was my ride-or-die, and I was getting the feeling that these men were coming between us. And not just Ryzen and Cian, but Riddick too. How could I trust him with Juliet when I couldn’t trust his brother? They were cut from the same cloth.

The day dragged on. I couldn’t focus on anything other than having a pity party for myself, so a little past four o’clock, I sent Owen home and headed to the market down the street from work.

Ryzen had been true to his word. He was giving me the space that I had asked for. Honestly, I was surprised he wasn’t on my ass about this whole proposal thing. Not that I had any type of answer for him. It was just resentment burning inside of me. Pure annoyance that I was trapped in this game, that he had been lying to me. It would have been better if he had told me the truth from the get-go, but no, all he had done was lie and try to manipulate me into thinking he cared for me. There was no looking past that.

Three bags filled with wine and snacks later, I was walking out the market when I ran straight into someone, my bags slipping out of my fingers. I muttered under my breath and reached down to pick up my ice cream before it rolled into the street.

“Oh, my Lord, I’m so sorry, honey, I’m so clumsy.”

I snapped my head in the direction of the familiar Southern twang. “Iva, what are you doing here?”
