He dragged me off the bar top and I clung to him as he held me in place and fucked me with such a relentless passion, I was screaming out his name within minutes. My whole body trembled in his arms as my orgasm shot through me, and he roared out a second later, filling me up with his release.

“I’ll never let you go, Nova. No matter what.” His eyes burned into mine, my heart bursting.

“I’m not going anywhere, Cian,” I murmured and claimed his lips once more.

I had almost lost this man too many times to count. I had been beaten and broken down until I thought I couldn’t take anymore. But he had always been the light at the end of the tunnel. And I was never, ever letting him go again.

Day 146

The sun streamed through the blinds, birds chirping just outside our window. I lay in bed on my stomach, Cian’s arm wrapped around me tightly. Dracula stretched and meowed as if to say good morning and jumped down from the bed. It was a beautiful morning where the possibilities were endless, and I was going to make the most of it.

I flipped over and straddled him. A devilish grin spread across his face. “Good morning, my love.” He reached up and trailed his thumb over my cheek and across my lips.

“Good morning to you, my love.” I leaned down, pressing my lips softly to his, grinding my hips against him.

He chuckled and flipped me over on my back, and I screamed out in laughter. His lips trailed kisses down my jaw, my body already responding to him. His phone rang from the side of the bed, and I groaned.

“Fuck that, it’ll go to voicemail.” He claimed my mouth again. No more than a second later, my phone rang and I reached over, knocking it down on the floor. Whatever it was, it could wait.

“So greedy for me, Nova,” he purred against my lips.

“Always,” I breathed and gasped as his cock pressed into me.

His phone rang again, and then mine, and we both raised our eyebrows.

“Who the hell could be calling this early?” he grumbled and rolled over. “It’s Dobbs,” he muttered and hit the accept button. “This better be important, Agent,” Cian growled.

I chuckled and grabbed my robe from the floor, wrapping myself in it. When I turned back around, the blood had drained from Cian’s face, and my heart slammed against my chest at the look in his eyes.

Something wasn’t right.

No. Something was terribly, terribly wrong.

Cian threw his phone across the room, and I jumped, my hand flying to my chest.

“Fuck!” he roared.

Chapter Twenty-Four

Day 146

Delove

I sat in darkness in the back of the bar, sipping my gin and tonic. I pushed my sunglasses up and lowered my hat, waving away the server when she tried to offer me another drink. My eyes never left the door as the bouncer searched every person who came into the lounge area. The air was filled with cigar smoke and the desperation of men as they placed their gambling chips down and squeezed their eyes shut. You could see it all over their faces—the fear, the hope that this would be the hand that was going to save them. But it wasn’t. It never was.

I gripped my glass as Kaviathin and Althazair walked in and headed straight downstairs. That was where the real gambling was taking place. Unlike up top where people were betting in the thousands, downstairs they were selling their souls.

I chugged the rest of my drink and stayed in the shadows as I made my way downstairs. There was a guard at the bottom, and I let him search me, his hand gliding over my gun and letting me pass through.

Kaviathin sat at a table in the back, a trail of women fawning over him as he took a drag of his cigarette. I walked right up to the table, and his eyes registered shock. He snapped his fingers and the women scattered.

“This is a surprise,” he purred and took a sip of his drink.

I raised my eyebrows and chuckled. “What, that I’m on time?”

He stood and came around the table, gripping me tightly in a hug. “In all the years I’ve known you, you have never been on time, cugino.”
