My cousin wasn’t wrong there. Ever since we were kids, I’d always been the one running behind—late for school, work, you name it.

Althazair came over with a tray of drinks and smirked. “Ha, you owe me a hundred dollars. I told you Angelo would be on time today.” He laid the tray down and squeezed me tightly.

“How’s your leg, Althazair?” I murmured as he walked to his seat, a slight limp in his step. Althazair was the unsteady one, the one to anger easiest. I had always worried about him.

His face twisted in disgust, and he threw a shot back. “Mostly healed. But it will be a lot better when I get my hands on Cian Blackwood.”

“No.” I shook my head, my voice stern. “You will not touch him, do you understand?”

His mouth fell open, and he looked between me and Kaviathin. “But he fucking shot me.” Althazair slammed his hand on the table, the glasses shaking.

“And Kaviathin shothimweeks ago. It’s done. Even.” I gave him a pointed look.

“Listen to the man, Althazair. If Angelo says no, then no.” Kaviathin sat down and pulled out the chair next to him, indicating for me to sit. “You have something for me?” He leaned back and crossed his ankle over his knee.

I pulled out a white envelope and slid it across the table. It contained the flash drive Ryzen had been foolish enough to keep and try to use against my family.

“And the recording?” Kaviathin took a drag of his cigarette.

“I’ve taken care of it.”

“Good.” He nodded.

“You should have told me, Kaviathin, that Goodacre had her on that island. You should have come to me.”

He sighed and shook his head. “I am no saint, Angelo, you know that. I had faith in her. And I was right. Look how it turned out.” He chuckled.

There was no point arguing. I knew Kaviathin thought he had done the right thing by giving her a knife instead of calling me for help, and I’d been shocked when Nova hadn’t uttered one single word about him. Just another mess I didn’t have to clean up, which I was thankful for. If he would have just listened to me when I had told him to stop pursuing the hotel deal with Ryzen, this could have all been avoided.

My phone beeped and I saw five missed calls from Dobbs. This fucking guy needed to retire already, and he had better soon, otherwise he could become a real problem and not the annoying gnat he currently was. I dialed his number and pressed the phone to my ear.

“Delove, where the fuck have you been, man? We have a problem. Goodacre’s gone. He was meeting with his lawyers and somehow got free. We can’t find him or his brother anywhere.”

My head fell back, and I sighed.

Great, just fucking perfect. I did not need to deal with this bullshit anymore.

I would find him though. Or Kaviathin would. Either way, it wasn’t going to end well for Ryzen Goodacre.

Not now.

Not ever.
