“Fine. We can be good on the way there, but no promises for the way back. Ever joined the mile-high club, babydoll?”

She laughed. “I’m afraid I haven’t.”

“Guess we’ll have to remedy that on the way home now, won’t we?” I winked. It was going to be a long flight to LA, and I was counting down the minutes until it was time for the flight home.

When we arrived, Tori was waiting on the Tarmac by the car we had sent for her.

“Finally. I was just about to go without you guys,” she said as we descended the stairs. I turned and offered my hand to Alex as she finished her climb.

“Oh, please tell me you’re the one banging my fiancés.” Tori laughed as she wrapped Alex in a hug.

My eyes jerked to Thomas, who gawked at Alex.

Shit.

We never told her about the arranged marriage, and now was definitely not the time for it.I could only pray Alex thought she was kidding.

Alex pulled back from Tori. “I’m sorry. What?”

“Nothing. Let’s go, shall we?” Thomas steered Alex toward the car where we all piled in.

“From here on out, there will be cameras everywhere. Just act natural and smile. If they see any kind of expression other than happy, they usually focus on that person more,” Thomas explained as we approached our destination. The red carpet was lined with cameras and A-list attendees.

“Got it.” Alex nodded. “Whatever I do, always smile.”

When she practiced, it didn’t quite reach her eyes. Her nerves fought against her naturally cheerful demeanor.

“And remember to breathe. It’ll be over before you know it,”I reassured her.

Alex took a deep breath for me, and when she smiled again, she looked calmer.

“Have we told you how much it means you’re coming with us tonight?” Thomas said softly as he placed a kiss on the back of her hand.

“Only about a hundred times.” Her body lost some of its tension.

“Have we told you tonight? Or told you how beautiful you look?” I kissed the inside of her other wrist.

“I don’t recall. Maybe you should say it again.” She sighed dreamily.

“No. Please don’t. It’s too much,” Tori teased, pretending to gag. “It’s too sweet. I think I might hurl.”

I glared at her across the limo.

“You just wait until you find your men, then you’ll be eating your words when they sit around worshipping the ground you walk on,” Thomas said, never taking his eyes off of Alex.

“That’s all fine and dandy, but remember she is Thomas’ date tonight, not yours Dec,” Jessie cut in.

She was right. I needed to calm down. It wouldn’t hurt to have the attention on me, but I didn’t expect Alex to be too thrilled by it. We were trying to ease her into this lifestyle.

“We’re here,” Stefan announced when we pulled up at the end of the red carpet.

Stefan, Mikel, and Jessie went first. I exited and helped Tori from the car. I let her lead the way down the carpet so I could make sure Alex was close by. We posed for a few pictures. Some with Tori and myself, others with the four of us. We made sure to have pictures with the four of us guys every time there was an event like this since it was usually the one that was used for the headlines the next day.

Tori was my saving grace more than once during the first half of the evening.

“Let Thomas attend to her. You don’t want to draw any attention.”

She was right. Not until we told our parents who Alex was to us. “I know. It’s just hard to stay away.”
