“You’ve got it bad, don’t you?” She patted my arm.

Tori didn’t understand the devotion I felt toward Alex. Someday she would when she found the right guys. “Yes, I do.”

“Good. Maybe she can save us all. And why do I get the feeling you haven’t told her about the arrangement?” Tori may be younger, but she didn’t let that stop her from letting either Thomas or I have it when she felt she needed to speak her mind.

“It never came up. We only just found her. We didn’t want her to feel pressured.”

Tori sighed and raised an eyebrow.

“We didn’t want to scare her off,” I finally admitted.

“Well, we are kind of under a bit of pressure. If she doesn’t agree to marry you in, what, four months, then we’ll be planningourwedding.” She sighed. “You know it’s not what I want either, Dec. You need to talk to her.”

“It won’t come to that. Thomas and I will find a way out of it, no matter what. Tori, I promise. I’m sorry you got wrapped up in it, but you know how our parents are. We promised to take care of you, and we will.”

She nodded and stood. We’d had this conversation plenty of times already. “Enough with the sweet talk. Let’s dance.”

I led her over to the dance floor, and we stayed there for a few songs before they had us take our seats again. The speeches were the usual—the charity thanking us for putting on the gala and thanking everyone for the assistance in raising the necessary funds.

The dinner was by far the best we’d ever had at one of these events. I made sure to thank Alex for her selections, and Jessie mused about how she would love to recreate the main dish.

After the dishes were cleared, Thomas and I were pulled away from the girls to mingle with some benefactors and the board members of the foundation we ran. By the time we’d appeased everyone involved, I’d lost track of time, and when I returned, Alex was sitting with Jessie and Tori.

“Alex, would you do me the honor of dancing with me?” I extended my hand to her. Alex blushed and took it.

“Dec, don’t,” Tori warned.

“What? It’s only one dance.” I lifted a shoulder.

Thomas was off speaking with someone, and I was done chatting. I wanted to dance with my woman at least once.

We walked to the center of the dance floor, and I pulled her into my arms, leaving just enough room to make it seem platonic.

“I didn’t know you could dance,” Alex teased.

“Another one of those things we learned at a young age.” I winked.

“Is there anyone else from Cosland? I don’t recognize anyone here.”

“There are a few. Most of them are members of the foundation.” I pointed to a group of men off to the side. “Then there’s the woman in the red dress. She’s an ambassador. And the guy two people over from her is one of our mother’s assistants.”

I spun Alex out and into me. When my hand landed on her hip, I felt the silky fabric, but nothing else.I missed the next dance step.

“Are you not wearing underwear?” I growled low so only she could hear.

“Everything I had showed through.” She looked at me through those fuck-me glasses of hers.

It would not be good to get a hard-on in my tux in the middle of the charity event.

“Fucking hell, babydoll.”

“I’m sorry. I didn’t think it’d be an issue.” She glanced at me through her lashes. She absolutely knew what it would do to us when she chose not to wear anything under her dress.

“It’s only an issue if I get a picture taken with a tent in my pants.”

Alex looked down and then snapped her gaze to mine. There was no questioning the hunger that flared in her eyes.

I twirled her around the dance floor for an extra song to ease the throbbing in my cock. By the time we made it to the table, Tori had excused herself and left for her hotel. She never stayed at the events until the end. She was flying home tomorrow morning from here while the rest of us flew to Texas tonight.
