I spendthe rest of my week researching my new position and the things that are required of a personal assistant. I also got a call from someone, just like Lily mentioned.

Come Monday morning, I gave myself one last look in the mirror. I wore cream-colored straight leg pants, a white camisole and a blue blazer with heels. I kept the makeup minimal and had my hair packed in a low ponytail. I wanted to give my best impression.

On the cab ride to work, I placed my hand on my thigh to still the shaking, looking out at the sky that was starting to darken with the possibility of rainfall.

I managed to make it just as the rain started to drizzle. I love the cold weather when it rains. It helped calm my nerves and ease the nervousness of the new space I stepped into.

I walked up to the receptionist and I told her about my appointment with HR and she let me up. The routine was smooth and easy. I was taken through some of the rules and regulations of the company, the organogram and hierarchy system, and then a profile was created for me with the company and I was given my identification tag before I was sent twenty-five floors up.

The elevator door opened and there was a heavily pregnant petite woman waiting for me.

"Oh my, I hope I didn't keep you waiting," I said to her, conscious of her posture. She had her hand under her belly, and the other one on her hip.

"No, it's fine. Good morning, Miss Williams. My name is Penelope."

"It's nice to meet you, ma'am."

"Oh, none of that. Calling me ma'am makes me feel old. I am just glad to have you here. I have been dying to find someone to ease me on the job." She started walking. "As you can see, I am very close to delivery and I should not be on my feet anymore for reasons best known to my doctor, but we couldn't find someone that would be suitable to cater to George's needs, so here I am."

"Is he a hard man to please?"

"Well, that depends on how well you do your job." She stops at her desk.

I could see that preparations had been made to accommodate me.

"Over the course of this week, I will run you through on the basic things you need to know about the job. The rest, you will have to learn on the job. I am not going to lie to you, this won’t be very easy."

"Yes, ma'am." She threw me a look. "I mean, yes, Penelope."

She sat down on her chair carefully. She looked so miserable.

"Don't look at me like that. I chose to be here. George already let me off duty weeks ago, but I can't just leave him high and dry. But now that you are here." She smiled, leaving the rest unsaid.

"I will do anything you need me to do. You just name it."

"I love your spirit. You can start out by taking these files to his desk. He will be in for work any moment now." She hands them over to me. She looked at the clock on her table. "He is running late as a matter of fact. He gets to work 8:30 everyday like clockwork, with the exception of days like this."

I nodded my head. "Noted." I dropped my handbag on the table before heading for his office.

His office was cool, and had minimal light coming through the window because of the blinds that were still halfway down. The walls were black and there was a sofa set, as well as a huge mahogany desk with an ergonomic chair behind it.

Everything on his desk was laid to perfection. I could see from the arrangements that he will most likely be the kind of person that wants everything a certain way. I leaned over to drop the file at the center of his large desk, and that was when I heard the door open behind me.

I erected myself quickly and turned to see the large figure of Lily's father.

He stood there staring at me like a hawk. He looked taller than I remembered. I was sure he was nothing less than six feet tall with broad shoulders and a looking presence. His piercing hazel eyes looked at me like he was wondering what I was doing there.

My face started getting red and hot and it took all I had not to fan my face. I didn't want to give him the impression that I was reacting to him physically, although he is very attractive.

He wasn't handsome in that boy next door way. He had this rugged, tough vibes, like a seasoned man, and something told me he knew what his physique does to the opposite sex. And he looked divine in his suit and a turtleneck.

"Mr. Harvey, my name is Katrina. I will be taking over for Penelope," I mustered the courage to say to him.

He nodded as if just realizing. He walked up to his seat and sat down.

I didn't know what to do. Should I leave? Should I ask him if he needed anything?
