"Don't play dumb with me, George. You're doing this on purpose, right?"

"You're going to have to give me more data to work with here. I honestly do not get you."

I stood up straight. "It's fine, don't worry, don't bother yourself," I said before walking away and back to my position.

When I sat down, I saw that he was still looking at me with his elbows on the table and his hands placed over his mouth.

I could not believe I did that, but I had been pushed to the wall.

I distracted myself at work, trying not to beat myself up for what just happened in his office. I didn’t want to come across as desperate, but I just couldn't stand it. If it keeps going like that, I might actually have to cave and say something about it.

The phone on the desk rang and I picked it up. "Miss Williams, can you make a reservation at The Golden Onion for 8 p.m. tonight?"

I was silent as I wanted to ask why he was going to a fancy restaurant at 8 p.m. Did he have a date? Is he going out with one of his women now? Has he gone back to them? Did he find it easy to move on that quickly? He couldn't be that much of an asshole could he?

"Yes, sir. I will make the reservation," I replied to him.

"Thank you." He dropped the call.

I was too curious not to know. I was itching to find out what he was doing so I decided to enquire from Lily later that night, only to find out that he went out on a date with a woman.

Indeed he was ready to move away from me and here I was dying on the inside, regretting that I told him no and he was ready to move on, which proved the point that he never ever meant it when he asked me out in the first place.

I went to bed angry and hurt and I woke up angry and hurt. I would no longer hold back.

The moment he came into work, I stormed into his office.

"You went out on a date last night!" I accused, pointing at him. He was wearing one of his three piece suits but that one looked new.

"I didn't think that you were keeping tabs on me. I thought that my private life is just that, my private life! What I do outside the four walls of this office is none of your business, Miss Williams."

"Shut up with the Miss Williams bullshit."

"I didn't know you had such a dirty mouth on you."

Neither did I.

"You asked me out on a date," I stated.

"Which I remember you said no to." He walked up to me.

"I said no because-" I fell silent, unsure of what to say. I hadn't thought about my action past storming into his office.

"Your reasons were that I'm your friend's father and I didn't mean it when I asked you out."

"But you sure didn't take any time to move on and to go back to your old ways."

"What do you mean my old ways?" he growled.

"You went out on a date with a woman last night, George."

"Oh, don't play that game with me, Katrina. You can't just say no to going on a date with me, yet criticize me for going out with another woman. You told me to back off." His voice remained steady but his anger still came across full force. He didn't need to yell to let his disapproval show. "You looked me in the eye and told me not to come after you and I did just that. I am not a man that goes back on my words and I'm not a man that enjoys being told what to do, but I did it for you. I gave you what you wanted, against my will."

"But you could tell that I was lying and you could tell that I didn't mean it."

"But you said it and that was what I followed."

"You are just so annoying. Do you know how long I have been waiting for you to come back to me, to ask me again and then I would have said yes?" We were inches apart, but I didn't care.
