"I don't care that people talk."

"I know you don't. You are George Harvey. But I do. I don't want to ruin this before it gets started and if everyone in the company starts talking about us, there is no way Lily won’t find out. And about Lily, I think I just want to keep things under wraps for now, okay? I will tell her when the time is right, but I want to be the one to do it. You don't look to me like you would break the news nicely."

"I probably wouldn’t," he admitted.

"I don't want to lose my best friend. Lily is everything to me."

"I know that, but I also want you to be happy with me. I don't want you to be miserable because you're wondering about what my daughter might think."

"When I'm with you, I'm not miserable." I kissed him again. "I don't have any other thoughts except happy thoughts."

"That's good and you should keep it that way. I always want to keep you happy and I always want a smile on your face." He stroked my hair. "How about we go out this Friday?"

I shook my head. "I have an outing with Lily. She wants to go clubbing."

"Do you want earlier or later?"

"How about we do Saturday?" I suggested.

"That is fine. I will sort out everything about the date. You just make yourself pretty and show up."

"I can't wait," I said.

"Neither can I." He gave me a quick kiss before I left his office again, but this time around with a smile on my face.

CHAPTER16

KAT

"Come on, girl. You're raining on my parade. Why can't you just lighten up? Like I get that the club is not your usual scene but work with me here," Lily whined.

She was trying to get over a crush at work and she felt like a night at the bar, dancing with strangers to insanely louder music was the way out.

"I'm sorry. I've just been a little distracted lately," I lied to her.

I was a bit off with her because I didn't know how to relate to her knowing that I made out with her father a few days ago and every day since then, as well as that evening before coming down to meet her.

Lily was my best friend. I usually don't keep anything from her. She was that one person that knows all my secrets, so having to keep this from her was hard.

I was in a relationship and the person was her father. How do you even tell that to someone? I should not have dabbled with George, right? But I have too much of a strong feeling for George to keep myself from him any longer. I felt like the secret was a small price to pay for what was actually going on between us.

"Yeah, whatever. If you're going to be a killjoy tonight, I'm going to abandon you."

"You know that I'm not looking for a guy right now," I told her.

"Since when? Don't be like me. Whoever that dude that you have something for at work is, get over him. It usually almost never works out." She sipped her grasshopper, running her hand over her black cold shoulder bodycon dress.

"You might be right." I leaned in, raising my voice higher as the song changed into a louder one. Something that I didn't think was possible. The blue and red lights of the club were flashing consistently.

"But I've not gotten to that point yet. I'm still at that stage where I'm all over him and who knows; maybe tomorrow he might ask me out." I shrugged

"Tomorrow is a Saturday."

"Maybe on Monday he might ask me out."

"I hope he does! One of us has to have a happy ending."

I nodded, knowing that it worked. I knew that I could always play on her romantic side. She goes dancing, weaving her way through the gyrating bodies, and shortly after she finds a guy.
