I sat at the bar just watching and making sure she was all right when I saw Darius walking towards me. I groaned. How come I was seeing him more frequently in the past few weeks than I have since I left work for the company where we worked together.

"Hey, baby girl." He sat down opposite me

"Don't call me that. What do you want?"

"I see that you're having a drink and I wanted to keep you company."

"I don't need you to keep me company. I'm here with a friend," I snarled.

"Yeah, I noticed. I didn't know that you know the daughter of Blue Trekk. That's very interesting. That was how you got the job, wasn't it? Yes, I know where you work, sweetie."

"How I got the job is none of your business," I replied to him, standing up to walk away.

He stood up after me and grabbed my hand, causing my spine to stiffen with fear.

"Leave me alone." I tried to break free.

He pulled me towards himself, immediately grabbing my ass. It was nothing like how I felt with George. It was not pleasing, not sweet. It was annoying and disgusting and it made me want to throw up.

"Get your hands off me before I kick you so hard in the balls that the bloodline ends with you."

He moaned in my ear. "You have always been delectable. You don't know how much I want to taste you in between your legs and run my tongue over your fold, and the cravings have been even worse after I did taste you back then. I want more," he said, making reference to that night in the office when he touched me.

"You are a disgusting bastard." I slapped his face, pushing him off me. "I have a boyfriend now and if you come at me again, I'm going to let him know and he's not somebody that you joke with."

"Really? Who's fucking you, Bambi? I'd like to know."

"That is none of your business, but he has more power than you do and he is twice the man you will ever be," I replied to him.

I didn't want to cause too much of a scene because people were already staring at us. He noticed too because he looked around to see different eyes on him.

"This isn't over. I will have you and I will fuck you until you scream my name, just know that." I shuddered as he walked away.

I didn't want him to ruin my mood and I realized that it was more difficult for him to do that than before.

In the past if I had an encounter with Darius, my whole day would have been ruined, my week as well.

I glanced at Lily. She was busy dancing with a handsome man and she didn't see me with Darius. She knows all too well about him and she always had my back. I knew that if she had seen me with him, she would have been over in no time, but I didn't want to cause her any hassle either.

I tried to erase the thoughts of him out of my head with that of George and it worked. I was too excited about my date with George to stay fixated on Darius for so long. It's amazing how even the thought of him alone was enough to chase away my worst nightmare.

CHAPTER17

KAT

Ihad managed to wiggle myself out of the club last night with my temper in check and also successfully making sure that Lily did not notice a single thing that played out between Darius and me. I felt like I had this under control to a reasonable extent. In the past, if Darius ever tried to do more with me, I would have to file a restraining order against him. Now, I would fight him.

I stared at my ceiling while covered under my blanket as I stretched on my bed. What started off as a yawn ended with a smile as I remembered that today was the day, my date with George.

My cheeks grew hot and red as I peeled the blankets away from my body so I could get out of bed and get on with my day.

Our date wasn’t until 8 p.m. tonight, so I pretty much had the entire day to myself. I figured I could catch up on some house chores, also draft a new grocery list, and then have some quality lady time before my date.

If anything was going to happen tonight, I needed to be prepared. Being like this had me feeling so much different than I had ever felt for any man in my entire life. George was different. He made me feel different.

I finished up with my chores a little after noon and I had just walked into my room to place my sheet mask on my face when the doorbell rang.

“Coming!” I yelled. I smoothed the edges of the mask on my face as I walked to my door with my purple silk night robe sweeping the floor behind me. “Good day.”
