He didn't answer me. He didn't look like he was worried about the hot coffee that spilled on his leg, but more like he was mad that my hands were on him. He looked like he was ready to throw me out of the room.

Penelope walked in, making me feel worse. I was embarrassed about what just happened, and to make it worse, I made a pregnant and tired lady get up from her chair knowing that my job was supposed to ease her stress of the position.

"What is happening?" she asked.

"I spilled coffee on Mr. Harvey," I said.

He remained quiet in his seat, staring at me. If looks could kill, I would have been six feet under.

"Go sit down, sweetie. I will take care of this," she said to me.

"If there is anything that I can do to-"

"No, no. It's fine. You just go." The understanding tone that she spoke to me with made me feel worse.

I walked out of the room with my hands folded in front of me and my head bowed.

That was not what was supposed to happen. I'm not supposed to be messing up what Lily did as a favor to me. I needed to do well. I needed to ace the job. It was my first chance getting back into the working scene after I left my old job. I needed the job and I couldn't afford to mess it up. I sat down by the desk and watched as he and Penelope had a conversation. He didn't look so happy as his hands pointed at me and flared around in angry motions.

I bowed my head on my desk, groaning. How could I have made such a terrible mistake?

Penelope came out shortly after and walked up to me.

"So, there is a small closet in that room over there." She pointed at a brown door. "You can get him a new suit. I hope that is not too hard of a task for you?" If it weren’t for her smile, I would have thought she was miffed.

"Oh, my goodness," I groaned. "I am so sorry. I just- I don't know. I was nervous because he can be a little intimidating."

"You have only managed to spend 5 minutes with the guy." She lowered herself into her seat.

"That was enough. He looks like he disapproves of me."

"He disapproves of everyone. Don't take it personally, okay? If you’re going to survive this job, you have to be able to look past his outer demeanor and just focus on your job."

"But he doesn't treat you that way," I pointed out.

"I have earned my space. I have been working with him for so long that I forgot what it was like to be new at the job. Just take it easy and take it one step at a time. You need to understand that I'm not always going to be there to fix your messes. I have spoken to him. He is not angry anymore. You can take his suit to him."

"You want me to take it to him?"

"Do you want me to do it?" Her eyes fell to her belly.

"That was so insensitive of me. I'm sorry that I had you on your feet again."

"It's fine. As long as I'm at work, I understand that I have to deal with these things. Your key card will be able to open the door. Pick a suit and get it for him.”

I scurried out of my chair and walked to the door and entered. It was like a resting area with a single bed and a closet. I opened it and was surprised to see that all of his suits were in dark or neutral colors. I picked the one that was closest to the dark blue he wore to work today and headed to his office.

I knocked before entering and the moment that I walked in, his eyes rested on me again.

"Mr. Harvey, I want to apologize again about the coffee incident. I hope that it didn't burn you too badly." I walked up to him.

"Miss, what's it again?"

"Williams. Katrina Williams."

"Miss Williams, if you are going to be working with me you need to understand some things. I don't tolerate mistakes, at all. Now, I understand that you're my daughter's friend and I hired you to work for me as a favor, but people only have three chances with me and then you are gone. Are you familiar with baseball?"

I shook my head. "I am not really familiar with the rules."
