"Okay, let me break it down for you. You have three strikes and you just used one up, meaning that you have two left." He stood up and he walked up to me in slow strides that emphasized this point as his eyes never left mine.

"Two more mistakes and you are out. Do you understand?"

"Yes." I nodded my head.

"Good." He went to his desk and picked up a file.

"Take this to Melissa, and wait to bring it back."

"Yes, sir!" I replied, grabbing the file from him. I couldn't wait to get out of the room. I didn't bother to ask who Melissa was. I just scurried off.

I got the information I needed from Penelope. Melissa was his Vice President and worked on the next floor. She was a tall and slender blonde-haired woman that looked like a model. Her back was straight and her posture was poised. She screamed elegance with her monochrome shin length skirt and halter neck top.

She looked down her nose at me as she asked what I wanted with her English accent. Everything about Melissa spoke class.

She took the file from me, worked on it and handed it back to me. I took the elevator up in a hurry, not looking at where I was going, and I ran into a hard body as I came out of it. I let out a soft 'oof' sound.

He grabbed my shoulders and held me at arms length, glaring at me, his lips in a slight frown. I was lost for a moment, looking into his eyes. They were alluring, the dark rims around his iris adding to their intriguing nature.

He smelled like amber, roses, lemon, bergamot and more. His scent was intoxicating and so distracting that I had to shake my head when I saw his lips start to move so that I could follow what he was saying.

"Will I have to be fighting for my life with you around Miss Williams?"

"I was just rushing to meet you. I didn't see you there. I'm sorry." I stepped away from the heated feel of his touch, hoping this doesn't count as another strike.

"I am very hard to miss." He gestured to himself.

My eyes followed the movement. He is very obvious, even a blind person could see him. I must be more than blind to have missed him, but I wasn't expecting him to be standing by the elevator.

"I am sorry. My apologies."

"I'm hearing that a little too often today, it's exhausting." He walked around me into the elevator. I turned around to watch him.

I really need to stop making these mistakes.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

"What?"

"I have a meeting at 2 p.m."

I looked at my watch to see 1:23 p.m. I didn't get it at first, but it eventually clicked. I was supposed to go with him.

"I need to grab my bag, I will be with you shortly."

As I ran to the desk, I found Penelope shaking her head with a smile. She was waiting with everything that I needed. I grabbed my things from her and ran after him.

"How was your first day?"Lily asked.

I held the phone in between my ear and shoulder, sliding my key through my door.

"I spilled hot coffee on your dad, and that wasn't the only mistake that I made today. It's a miracle if he doesn't fire me tomorrow."

"Was it that bad?"

"I was so nervous. He makes me nervous, and I don't want to ruin my chances. I don’t want to disappoint you. It was a lot of pressure." I fell on my sofa with a sigh.
