I break off with a shrug. “Emotions are her thing, not mine.”
Ford chuckles as he closes the rear door of the town car before he slips back into the driver's seat. “Sure thing, asshole.”
When we reach our penthouse, both of us are still smiling, but as Rey moves off toward the stairs, I reach out to tug her back to me.
“I need to tell you something. And itcan’twait another second, Sunshine.”
She swallows heavily before nodding with the slightest hesitation and allowing me to draw her into my arms.
I press a soft kiss to her brow before whispering, “Hearing Vaughn say that another woman was having my child…well, shit, Rey, all I could think was how much I wanted that to beyoucarryingourchild.”
She jerks back, confusion coloring her features. “But you said you didn’t want—”
I press my index finger over her lip. “That was beforeus, Sunshine. Because any child that comes from you will be perfect,just like you. You said you wanted a house full of kids, right?”
She nods slowly with wide eyes, and I can’t help but grin. “I told you before that I’d give you the world if you asked for it. Growing a family together sounds like an adventure, and there’s no one else I’d ever dream of doing it with.”
Tears fill her eyes as she whispers, “Oh my God, we’re really in this.”
My mouth parts with a lopsided grin, and I shake my head as I cup her cheeks. “I don’t know about you, but I’ve beeninsince Malones, Rey. Since I asked if you needed a time-turner. Since we shared a waltz, an Irish stew, and part of our souls.”
I drop my forehead to hers as tears fill my eyes. “I’ve been in love with you since the moment I set eyes on you, Reyna DeMarco. I’m just sorry that it’s taken me this long to say the damn words.”
She exhales on a sob, tears flowing freely down her pinkened cheeks as I press my mouth to hers in a kiss that shows her just how precious she is to me.
I break the kiss and hold her gaze as I whisper across her parted lips, “I love you, Sunshine. And I’m going to keep on loving you the way you deserve for the rest of our lives –thatis my solemn vow.”
I angle her head down to press a slow kiss to her brow, and when I pull back to find her eyes, her smile is as radiant as her nickname.
“So, what do you say we get started?”
Her forehead crumples in adorable confusion, and I can’t stop the chuckle that tumbles from my mouth as she questions, “Get what started?”
I quirk a brow. “Growing that family, Sunshine. I hear it’s a tough job, but my monster cock isabsolutelyup to the task.”
A wide smile spreads across her face as she shakes her head before leaning up on her tiptoes to wrap her arms around my neck. “You really are a truly incorrigibleasshole.”
She kisses my mouth softly, then smiles into my eyes.
“As propositions go, I must say, it’s decent, pretty boy. I’ll take it under consideration—”
She breaks off with a shriek when I throw her over my shoulder and lightly swat her skirt-covered ass. “What are you doing?”
I take the stairs two at a time, intent on my destination as I ignore her question with a smirk. Instead, I just massage the luscious ass cheek by my right ear, laughing outright when she pounds at my back indignantly.
“Put me down right the hell now, or so help me—ouch!”
I cut her off when I turn my face to gently nip the side of her ass with my teeth before I toss her onto our bed. She yelps as I look down on her with a smile.
She scrambles farther up the bed, her eyes narrowed and directed right at me. The sight just makes my smile grow even bigger as I kneel on the bed and follow her oh-so slowly.
“You’ll take it under consideration…is that right, Sunshine?”
She nods, raising her eyebrows in exaggerated innocence, and I narrow my eyes devilishly. “Allow me to persuade you that I’m the right man for the job.”
I reach her ankles, and roughly push her legs apart, making her dress rise in the process. My mouth drops open when I see the paradise that awaits me, and I raise questioning eyes to her laughing ones.
She lifts the hem of her dress higher until the bunched fabric is pooled around her belly button. “I took them off before you got in the car when we left Iris at the hotel.”
