Her eyes soften. “She loved that one.”

I slip from the back seat, round the back of the vehicle, and open her door with my hand flourished.

“Come on. I have a surprise for you.”

She takes my offered hand with a wry grin. “You and these surprises.”

I tug her to my side, winking mischievously. “Me and these damn surprises, Sunshine.”

We enter the casa through the front door, finding the property has been utterly transformed, with vibrant red, white, and blue exploding to life within, spilling out onto the pool area beyond. It looks like our own private street party, with platters of mouth-watering local Costa Rican cuisine interspersed throughout.

Music is pumping through speakers out by the pool, filling the entire house with a desire to move. To let the rhythm take control, and glancing sideways at Rey, I can’t help but smile when I note the slight sway of her hips in time with the beat.

“What…what is this?”

Rey spins to face me, her eyes shining with delight, and my smile grows even broader.

I step closer, looping my arms around her waist to pull her closer to me. She places her palms on my chest, looking up at me with dancing doe eyes, and I can feel my chest puff out ridiculously under her obvious adoration.

“Dance for me, Sunshine.”

Disbelief colors her face, and her brows pinch together. “To this?”

I chuckle deep in my chest, but nod as I hold her eyes with mine. “I’ve done my homework, Rey. To enter Pearson, you would have needed to bewellabove average, at theveryleast, in several other styles of dance. Correct?”

She nods warily, and I continue with a shit-eating grin. “So, I’ve decided…while we’re here, I think it’s only fitting that you showcase your favorite Latin American dances.”

Her eyes narrow minutely, but she doesn’t debate it. Instead, she throws her hands up in exaggerated exasperation, unable to hide her twitching lips. “Well, since you’ve gone to the trouble of doing yourhomework, pretty boy, what kind of wife would I be if I denied you.”

She rests her hands on my upper arms, quirking a playful brow as my eyes fixate on her stunning face. My chest fills with light at her easy use of her new title, despite the initial rationale behind tying ourselves together.

It’s becoming more and more apparent that my reasons for asking Rey to be my pretend girlfriend were thrown out the window a long damn time ago.

Because this doesn’t feel pretend. And deep down, I know it never was.

From the moment we exchanged vows, IknewI would never let her go.

Thisis real.

Weare real.

And the acknowledgment is fucking liberating.

“Well, Sunshine. To deny your husband one small request such as this…I’ll go out on a limb here, but I do believe that would make you a little bit of anasshole.”

She throws her head back, her slender neck on display to my rapt gaze as she laughs long and loud. Her face returns to mine as she extricates herself from my embrace to lift the hem of her beach kimono. She easily lifts it over her head and tosses it aside, her intensely pupil-dominated eyes never leaving mine.

“I can categorically state that I wouldn’t want to join the incorrigible asshole club, pretty boy.”

She gives me her back with a smirk, sauntering toward the wide-open space of the living area with a sultry sway of her delectable ass that I don’t even bother attempting to hide.

When she turns back to face me, Cheat Code’s remix of“South of the Border”comes over the speakers, and her eyes blow wide in clear delight as she begins to dance.

“Ooh, this is perfect for a bachata!”

My eyes drink their fill as she extends her hands gracefully.

“I had a feeling this one could be a firm favorite.”
