“No, I don’t. I was the injured party here, Ola, so I should be the one to suggest we move on and be friends. Not him. It’s like he’s determined to act like nothing happened.”

“Then the two of you should talk about it, Charm. Find out where Dylan’s mind was back then.”

“I know where his mind was. It was on his music and making it big. It wasn’t on me.”

Ola paused and then said, “I need to ask you something, Charm. And I want you to think about the question before you answer.”

“What?”

“Do you think Dylan didn’t love you at all?”

For years she had asked herself that same question. She honestly believed that he had. All she had to do was remember their FaceTime talks on the phone. Then there was his visit that second summer and how she’d tempted him to go all the way, but he had refused. Instead, he’d introduced her to other pleasures in the bedroom that hadn’t involved intercourse. Pleasures she hadn’t shared with any other man.

“Yes, I believe he loved me. He just loved his music more.”

“Do you see him falling in love with you again or you falling in love with him again?”

“No. Absolutely not. However, we are attracted to each other, which is what I need to seduce him.”

“Seduce him and then walk away?”

“Yes. I want him to know how it feels to be rejected.”

“Well, I still think you’re making a mistake, Charm.”

“I don’t. For me, it’s called getting even.” And she intended for things to start heating up tonight.

“Dinner was wonderful, Dylan.”

He doubted Charm was aware she’d been pushing his buttons all evening in the most sensuous way. It had started when he arrived at her villa to pick her up for dinner. The moment she’d opened the door, he’d known it would be hard as hell to resist temptation tonight. And Charm Outlaw was temptation of the most irresistible kind.

This particular dress was one she’d bought during their shopping trip. It was short, complimented her figure and revealed a lot of skin. He thought it was decent but only because she was with him. When she’d modeled it for him, he’d come close to telling her he didn’t like it so he could be the only one to see her in it. It was only later he wondered how he could have thought such a thing. What Charm put on her body was no business of his.

“I’m glad you enjoyed it. I recall that Indian food is your favorite behind Thai.”

“Yes, it is.”

Now they were on their way to a nightclub Stuart had told him about. It was one frequented by celebrities who wanted privacy from the media and paparazzi. The only reason he hadn’t been hassled on this trip was because everyone thought he was vacationing in Ireland with the rest of his band.

“Have you heard from Seth today?” she asked.

“Yes. We spoke briefly. Elise hasn’t been seen and they’re keeping an eye on Cindy. They have reason to believe they’ll make a move tomorrow. When they do, the FBI will be ready.”

Deciding to keep the conversation going instead of thinking about the kiss they’d shared earlier that day, he asked, “So what are your plans when you leave here?”

He glanced over at her in time to catch her smile. “I plan to visit Cash and his family in Wyoming until the middle of July.”

Of her five brothers, he’d only gotten to meet three of them: Cash, Sloan and Maverick. They had been friendly enough and nothing like her father. Bart Outlaw had been downright rude and domineering. “I caught a glimpse of Maverick at one of my concerts a few years ago in Paris.”

“You did?”

“Yes. He was with a very beautiful woman.”

“That was probably his wife, Phire. They met in Paris where she was living at the time. Maverick never mentioned attending one of your concerts.”

Because he was curious, he asked, “Did your brothers ever find out we defied your father and didn’t end things that summer?”

“No. Everyone, including Dad, still believes that we did.”
