A baby that will be so loved it won’t know what to do with itself. I’m going to spoil the shit out of her or him, but hopefully her. I want my little girl to be just like Angel, and she will be perfect in every way imaginable. I just know it.

“But it might be Royal's or—” she pauses. “You know—his.” The air is knocked from my lungs. It feels like I’ve been stabbed in the gut.

His.

Gabriel.

That’s the only other person she would refer to like that.

I nod slowly, trying to mask my disappointment. “If it’s his, does that change things? For us, I mean. Do you still want to try and make this work with all of us? Or will you be with him?”

I’m scared of what the answer will be, but I have to know. I can’t picture my life without Angel in it, but I also know that a baby could change things for her.

“I love you, Luck. I want a life with you and the guys, but I don’t know if they’ll feel the same way when they find out.”

I release the breath I was holding waiting for her response.

“I love you. More than you’ll ever know.” I lean forward, capturing her lips with mine. I pepper kisses along her jawline and down her neck, placing a hand on her stomach. “I’m going to love the shit out of this baby whether it’s mine or not. It’s still a piece of you, Angel, and that makes it a piece of me, no matter what.”

Her grin brightens the room. She leans forward, kissing me with everything she’s got. My hand wraps around her head, pulling her closer.

Just as she starts to move onto my lap, someone clears their throat, causing us both to jump.

Dante stands by the door looking at everything but us.

“Did you enjoy the show?” I tease.

He shakes his head, letting out a deep sigh. “Just wanted to let you know Royal’s out of surgery. The doctors said everything went well, and he should recover in a few weeks. He’s asleep now, but I can take you to see him if you’d like?”

“Yeah, sure. Just give me a minute,” Angel responds. Dante salutes her and walks out of the room.

She turns to me wide-eyed. “How long was he standing there? Do you think he heard anything?”

I can’t help but laugh. “Calm down, baby. Even if he did hear something, would that be so bad?”

She buries her head in her hands. “Yes, yes it would.”

I pull her arms away, tilting her head up to look at me. “Stop it, everything’s fine. Let’s go see Royal, and we’ll figure out the rest later.”

I untangle myself from her and get up off the bed.

“Promise me you won’t say anything, Luck. I know I need to tell them, but I also need answers first.”

I don’t want to lie but agree anyway.

“I promise.”

Chapter eight

Angel

Two weeks later.

Time seems to be flying by since we left the hospital. I was released the same day I found out I was pregnant, Lucky the day after, and then Royal and Gabe were released another week.

Things have remained pretty chill since everyone has been home.

King is still on the run, and the guys have been working themselves to death trying to find him. I’ve tried checking on Gabe a few times, but he’s been wrapped up in plotting his vengeance, so I’ve left him to it.
