Oh yeah, that was stupid of me.

Pure torture being in a house full of men that I can’t touch.

I take his hand and lead him into the kitchen where the rest of the guys are waiting patiently to eat.

“Hurry up, Princess, my stomach’s growling over here,” Royal grumbles.

I take my seat, looking at the meal the guys cooked for us and the deck of cards in the center of the table.

They made steaks, mashed potatoes, and green beans, and I can’t wait to dive in.

“Your mom came by when you were sleeping and dropped off a strawberry and vanilla cake. I told her to wake you, but she wanted you to get some rest,” Lucky says before shoving a mouthful of steak into his mouth.

“I’ll call her after dinner and thank her.”

Mom wasn’t happy about me moving into Royal’s, but I spent a few hours convincing her it was what I wanted.

I needed to be here with the guys. I left out all the craziness about the shootings that took place here, and eventually, she conceded. There’s no reason for her to worry herself when it’s already happened.

The thought of leaving her alone makes me nervous, but honestly, the farther away I am from her the better.

She’s safer with me being gone.

We spend the rest of dinner stuffing our faces and laughing about all the good times we’ve had together.

Lucky and I get up to clean off the table while the others set up the poker chips and deal the cards.

“I don’t know how much longer I can keep my mouth shut, baby,” Lucky says, wrapping his arms around my waist from behind.

“I’m going to tell them soon, I promise.”

“They’re going to catch on. I find myself staring at your stomach all day, every day. Do you know how hard it is for me not to do all the things I want to do to you? Take care of you the way I want to?” he asks, and my heart does somersaults.

“I want that too, Luck, I do.”

“Then what are you waiting for? We can have it all.” He gently rubs circles over my stomach, kissing down my neck.

“I wish it were that easy,” I breathe, getting lost in his touch.

He spins me around in his arms, cradling my head in his palms. “It can be, let me show you how easy things can be for us, baby.”

The smile on my face grows wider. He kisses my lips, grabs my hand, and leads me back to the dining room where the guys are waiting.

I can feel the flush of my cheeks as Jax and Royal give me a knowing look when I take my seat.

“Who’s up for a game of strip poker?” Lucky says, wiggling his brows at us.

My hand shoots up in the air. “Yes, please!”

The guys all laugh, and I find myself for the first time just wanting to live in this exact moment forever.

Chapter nine

Angel

Round one I take the win with my pair of aces and a queen kicker. The guys mumble and groan but eventually strip their shirts off, giving me an eye full of tanned skin and more six-packs than I can count.

“You guys sure complain a lot when you’re losing,” I chuckle, flashing them a grin.
