I let Gwen take the lead. She silently eyed me and walked slowly. I enjoyed the view of her gorgeous hips moving from side to side as we made our way to the massage room.

“Welcome. This is Veronica, she will be assisting me today. We will give you a few minutes to get undressed. Then, we want you to both lie face down on these massage tables under the blankets. We will return in a few minutes.”

They closed the door with a soft click of the lock. Gwen threw me a murderous look. “What the hell!”

I took off my shirt, then my pants, and before long, I was completely naked. “Don’t be shy, love. Get undressed so we can both enjoy this beautiful experience.”

I watched, fascinated by how she tore at her clothing as if ripping each piece off to annoy me. I knew I was going to hell for this, but making her angry while enjoying the view was very pleasurable.

“Did I tell you today how gorgeous you look when you are angry?”

She threw her shirt at me and then quickly climbed under the blanket. I followed, and reached out my hand, determined to annoy my temporary assistant a little more since there was nothing better to do.

“Wanna hold hands?”

Her head was turned away, but she turned it back to me then, stuck out her tongue, and held out her hand. In my glory, I clasped her hand, only to discover she had a few tricks up her sleeve when she bent my middle finger back and made it crack.

“Shit! Damn, Gwen.”

I pulled my hand away and closed my eyes. “No more gestures of love for you.”

I couldn’t help myself. When Gwen looked my way, she was laughing.

“You have got to be the most insane man I have ever met. You infuriate me, make me want to hit you over the head with something, and you're a heartless boss who only cares about himself, and now, here, you are acting like we're lovers. I imagine most women fall at your feet because of all that misdirected out-of-control charm you toss around.”

“Well, thank you. Who says I have women falling at my feet? If Martie told you that, I’d like her to make me a list of those women. While I’ve had my fair share—”

The door clicked open again, and the two women returned. It wasn’t long before we were both feeling the release of many tensions in our muscles. The smell of lavender and musk enveloped us, the gentle sound of nature soothed the atmosphere, and the hands that rested on my back manipulated my body in ways I never thought possible.

During the massage, the two women encouraged us to hold hands at certain times, look into each other's eyes, and say loving words of affirmation to each other. It felt awkward, and yet hugely connecting. By the time we were done, neither Gwen nor I said anything to each other.

The silence of the moment, the peace between us, was remarkable. Not one ounce of anger, rudeness, silliness, or stress lingered in my body. The only thing I wanted to do was make love to Gwen.

It was humbling and frightening all at the same time. I took her hand in mine when we were done.

“So, we look like a couple until we are out of here. I have to admit I feel so relaxed right now, the only thing I want to do is drive myself deep into you over and over until we come and pass out.”

We rounded the corner and both women were waiting for us. One held out a gift bag.

“This is for later. You will want to share a lovely bath before bed, put these bath salts and flowers in the water, along with the bottle of oil, and it will ease you into a romantic night.” They both smiled.

I was surprised when Gwen took the bag and spoke. “Thank you, namaste. This was the most beautiful experience for us both. I hope you enjoy the snow and down time it brings.”

Halfway up in the elevator, she pulled her hand from mine. “Okay, we're done with that now. I have to admit, it felt so good it was almost worth holding your hand.”

Her words stung deeply.

“Yeah, well, I was having a good time until you opened your mouth. Apparently, I’m not the only one who knows how to be rude and lacks character or manners.” I stepped off the elevator and walked to the suite, the spell was broken.

Angry again, I blasted music on my phone when I got back to the room. Gwen looked apologetic, but the words that could but didn't roll off her lips did nothing to ease my agitation that I was trapped here with her for a few days.

Some time passed, and I scrolled through my phone, not feeling much like working. “Can you see if I can get this guy on the phone for a Zoom meeting? His name is Marcus. I just sent a link to your phone. He’s my contact in Brazil, see when he has time. I don’t want to be sitting here doing nothing.

“Sure. After that, I thought about going to the pool and taking a dip. Do you want to join me?”

“No, I’m good. Just make sure you send me those spreadsheets, and I need you to check my calendar. Since we're going to be here a few days longer, I need to reschedule my flight, and any appointments until Wednesday of next week. I want to keep things light, and the sooner we let everyone know, the better. If anyone asks, why not be honest? Tell them we are trapped in the storm in New York.”

An hour later, she’d made the call. Marcus was to meet with me in less than an hour via Zoom to discuss how things were looking in South America. She’d rescheduled everything, and most everyone seemed shocked, from what I heard, tonotsee Martie. After that, she sent me the spreadsheets from her phone with the necessary changes and then there was silence again.
