She giggles. “Yeah?”

I nod. “I’m happier than I ever imagined I could be, Scarlett.”

She sighs, leaning her forehead against my chest before she looks up at me. “I am too.”

I put my hands on her waist and make a point of frowning as I look past her. “What is all that?” I ask.

She turns and gasps when she sees a picnic basket sitting on a blanket. “When were you up here?”

I shrug. “There might be a reason Delgado is so wiped out. He’s already been up the mountain today.”

She laughs and Delgado’s sleepy eyes open as he stares fuzzily at us. We walk the rest of the way and stretch out on the blanket.

I open the basket and there’s a combination of treats from Happy Cow and The Gnarly Vine. She digs into it excitedly and I watch her, feeling a wave of nerves hit me.

“Is this to celebrate the spread inBoutique Resorts?” she asks, taking the glass of champagne I offer her.

“Yes. And the fact that all the renovations are finally done. We can breathe a little bit now.”

“I’m so in love with how everything turned out,” she says. “I never dreamed it could be so magical. You made that happen.” She clinks my glass and leans in to kiss me.

“Youmade that happen,” I tell her.

“We did,” she says, laughing.

I put my hand on her face, tracing her jawline with my fingers, her big brown eyes luminous in the sunshine.

“Don’t underestimate what you’re capable of,” I say. “I’ve been in complete awe of all you’ve accomplished with your lingerie business and your vision for the resort that has come to life too.”

Her cheeks flush. Her lingerie is in a dozen boutiques nationwide, and more are calling every day. Since the renovations, the lodge has been booked solid.

I pull out a black velvet box and her mouth drops before I even open it.

“Jamison,” she whispers.

“Will you marry me?”

I hold up the ring and she’s nodding, her eyes never leaving mine, tears spilling over.

“Yes,” she says, wrapping her arms around me and then pulling back to hold out her finger. “Oops, I forgot about the ring.”

Her fingers are shaky when I put it on, or maybe mine are, but once it’s on there, the huge stone radiant, we both start laughing and kissing, and the dogs dance around us, knowing things are about to get even better.

She tries to distract me as we’re getting ready, and normally I’m all about the distraction, but I have a plan tonight and don’t want to be late.

I kiss her and pull her arms off of my neck, kissing her palms. “I’ll make it up to you later, I promise you. But for now, get that lacy goodness out of my face and get some clothes on.”

I slap her ass and she yelps, laughing before she pretends to pout. I leave the bathroom before she can convince me to change my mind.

We drive to Grinny’s house and Scarlett looks at me in surprise when she sees all the other cars. We can hear the party around the back as we step outside and walk hand in hand toward the festivities.

There’s a loud cheer when everyone sees us, and Scarlett laughs over at me when she realizes they’re all here to celebrate us. Scarlett’s brothers and Grinny are here, along with my family.

“Very sneaky,” she says, leaning up to kiss my cheek.

Everyone comes over to hug us and to see Scarlett’s ring. When her brothers come over to hug her, they slam my back, offering me veiled threats along with their congratulations, all said with a smile.
