“Just the fact that all of you care to make it easier for me means…so much.” I end on a whisper, my voice breaking.

He pulls me close, hugging me, and a tear drips down my face. I swipe it away and sigh into him.

“Your hugs are really, really nice,” I say softly.

“I’m sorry that my dick can’t behave in this moment,” he says when it’s clear that he’s hard as a rock.

“Your dick is really, really nice too,” I say, still not looking at him.

It jerks against me and he laughs. “Well, flattery is definitely not going to help in this situation.”

I lean my head back to face him and he runs his thumb across my lower lip.

“You don’t have to worry about me,” I tell him. “I’ll be okay.”

Lucia and Delgado have been sliding their warm bodies against our legs and finally Lucia plops down on our feet.

Jamison laughs. “Guess I’m not going anywhere.” He leans in and kisses me and my body melts into his. It’s the sweetest kiss, but it still amps up fast, the need for more of him a physical ache.

I break the kiss, both of us breathing hard. “You better get back.”

“Yeah, you’re right. Hey, they’ll be here for a few more days. Be with us as much as you want and are able. We’ll be fine-tuning the plans, but I also want to take Ivy skiing and we were serious about taking Grinny to dinner. I’d love for you to be part of any and all of that.”

“I don’t want to intrude on your family time,” I tell him.

He protests and I shake my head.

“No, really. You need a chance to catch up without me. I’ll call Grinny though and see if she’s free tonight or tomorrow night…”

He studies me, his eyes trying to read between the lines.

“Go,” I tell him, laughing.

I move back, which causes Lucia to stand up. She sticks her snout in my hand, wagging her tail excitedly. I pet her and Jamison bends down to pick up Delgado.

“I wish they were staying longer. There’s so much I want to do while they’re here, but too little time. They need to meet these guys for sure.” He sets Delgado back down and pets Lucia. “I’m going, I’m going. Let me know what Grinny says.”

I nod, smiling at him, and when he leaves, I collapse into my desk chair. Lucia comes over and lays her head on my knee.

“What am I gonna do, girl?” I ask her. “I think I’m in trouble.”

I call Grinny. I talked to her last night but didn’t tell her about the dinner just in case it didn’t come back up. She’s excited and says either night works. After we hang up, I email Jamison, letting him know that and my phone buzzes a few minutes later from an unknown number.

Should I be offended that Steve had your number and I didn’t? This is Jamison, by the way.

I smile at my phone, saving his contact in my phone before texting back.

You’ve got my number in a way Steve doesn’t.

Jamison

Damn. That was totally effective. Not offended anymore at all, but now they’re asking why my chest is puffed out like a proud gorilla.

I giggle and Delgado and Lucia look up at me, tails wagging. My alarm goes off, reminding me that I need to let the dogs out and then get over to housekeeping to talk to Deb. I fasten their leashes and grab my phone, hurrying outside. There aren’t any other pets in the pet area, so I let them loose.

My phone rings and I frown, another unknown number. I almost answer it, thinking maybe it’s Autumn, but then another text from Jamison comes in.

Jamison
