Cassie blinked. This was the first time he’d ever cut off one of their sessions of his own volition. Apparently, his bandmates were equally surprised.

“Are you kidding me, man? I canceled a date with a Victoria’s Secret model for this,” said Devon.

Zac’s lips quirked. “I’m sure if you call her, she’ll be more than happy to fit you in.”

“I’m sure shewillbe more than happy tofit me in.”

The snorts of laughter from the other end of the call had her smiling and rolling her eyes at the same time.Boys will be boys.

Zac’s thumb stroked over the back of her hand, and he tugged her toward him so she half-fell into his lap.

“Ah, it all becomes clear now,” Beau said. “Hey there, Cassie. Looks like we have you to thank for our early night.”

Her skin heated. “Hey, guys.”

“We’re almost out of time to get this finished,” Zac told them. “Let’s have an early one tonight and keep going tomorrow.”

There were a few good-natured grumbles but grins all around when they signed off.

Zac gripped her hips and moved her, so she was straddling him. He fisted a handful of her hair and pulled her head back so he could drag his lips along her throat.

“Zac,” she breathed, her exhaustion forgotten as his tongue flicked hotly across her sensitive skin. She rolled her hips, and he groaned, the rumble in his chest vibrating through her.

“Fuck, Cassie. You drive me crazy,” he muttered.

“Good,” she said, eyes drifting shut. “That way you’ll remember me when this is over.” She angled her chin to give him better access, but he froze.

Cassie tried to lift her head to see what was wrong, but his hold on her hair wouldn’t let her. “Zac?”

“Come back with me.” The words were whispered against her skin.

Cassie inhaled shakily. “What?”

“Come back to LA with me. After the tour.”

Her heartbeat skipped, hope rising in her chest. She tugged at his hold, and this time, he released her.

They stared at each other. The tension around his eyes made it clear the question wasn’t easy for him.

“You want me to go home with you?” She needed to make sure she understood him properly.

His nod was jerky. “I have to fly out to the UK two weeks after we get back from the tour. But you could stay with me until then.”

No mention of anything after that, but she wasn’t sure she cared right at that moment. He didn’t want this to end. That was the important thing.

“What are you thinking?” His tone was casual, but there was a vulnerability in his expression she’d only seen once before, at the hotel after his dad’s funeral.

“I’d like that,” she said. He didn’t smile, but the tension eased around his eyes.

“Good.” He pressed a kiss to the corner of her mouth. “Because I’m not quite done with you yet, Cassie Elliot.”

She smiled and tried very hard not to think about the moment when hewouldbe done with her.

ChapterThirty-Four

“You asked her to go back with you to LA?” Connor’s voice was incredulous. “She’s going to be staying with you? At your apartment?”

They were sitting around the card table in their dressing room, relaxing while Blacklite hit the stage to warm up the crowd.
