Hereyes are big black pools ringed in golden brown as she looks at me. “Yes,” she breathes.

I’mso close to telling her, the words balanced on the tip of my tongue.Butnot here.WhenItell herI’min love with her, it sure as shit won’t be in a nightclub bathroom.

Instead,Ilose any restraintImight have been holding on to and crash my lips down on hers.

I’veclaimed her body.Ihope to fucking hell that, in the end,Iget to claim her heart, too.

ChapterTwenty-Five

Shae

ThescreamofDevon’sguitar rises to a crescendo that has my blood pulsing hot in my veins. It’sa less intense version of the sensations that soared through me last night at the club.Andafterward, in my hotel room.Andthen once more early this morning when he pulled another climax from my sore but beyond satisfied body.

Ismile a secret smile to myself and touch my fingers to lips that still feel a little swollen from his kisses.Lastnight was beyond amazing, even if it hadn’t started off that way.Inever thought having sex in a nightclub bathroom—let alone one with a wall made entirely of glass—could make me feel so cherished.ButDevonhad done it.Andhe managed to lay my doubts to rest at the same time.

Mostof them anyway.

Cassiegrabs my arm, dragging me from my thoughts. “Theguys are on fire tonight,” she says, her eyes shining.

Ismile at her. “Iwonder why.”Igesture around us at the packed arena.CassieandIare standing at the front, behind the security lineup so we don’t get squashed by the rabid fans pressing against the barrier.

Twenty-five minutes intoCrossfire’sset, the energy of the crowd is even more electric than when the four men first walked out on stage.Withall the shrieks and voices singing along to the songs, my ears are ringing, butI’mloving every second of it.CassieandIhave sung, danced and cheered, our way through each and every song.

Theone they’re playing now is their last for the night.Devonmoves to the front of the stage, just above where we’re standing, and performs a complex riff on his midnight-blue guitar.Hegrins, his eyes on me and his fingers moving like lightning over the strings as he plays lick after lick.Theharsh lights reveal a sheen of sweat on his skin, the dampness causing his whiteT-shirt to stick to his sculpted muscles.Everyhill and valley of his abs is visible through the fabric, and a thrill ricochets through me becauseI’mthe one who gets to run my fingers over them tonight.Andwhen he winks at me, my heart gives a silly little flutter.

Afew seconds later,Beausteps up alongsideDevon, and the two of them play off each other.Zacstops singing and steps back to let the cousins take the spotlight.Thedark-haired front man shakes his head and laughs at them as they try to one-up each other, which only ramps up the crowd’s excitement.

Atthe back of the stage,Caleb’sgrinning too, doubling his beats on the high hat during the lead-in to the final verse of the song.BeforeBeaudrops back to his original position, his blue eyes, so similar in shape and shade to his cousin’s, and yet so uniquely his own, focus on me.Hissmile lights up his face, sending a different kind of thrill through me.Ibeam back at him, giddy watching him like this, so completely in his element.HeandDevonboth.Theywere made for this.

ButwhenIfindDevonagain, his brows have pulled together.Idon’t know what caused the change in his demeanor, but whatever it was, he gets over it quickly.Onlya second later, the pensiveness is gone, and he’s giving me a far-too-sexy grin that has me darting a glance atCassieto see if she’s noticed.

Thankfully, her attention is on her fiancé, so she missed theI’mplanning to strip you naked and screw you seven ways toSundaylook.Mybody certainly didn’t, though.Desireheats my veins and need pulses deep inside me asIimagine what tonight might bring.

Zacfinishes the song, tilting his head back and belting out a note that has the fans in paroxysms of delight.Theswell of noise from behind us almost knocks me over.ButI’mwith them, cheering the guys the way they deserve to be cheered.

Calebjumps down from the drum riser at the back of the stage, and the four of them lift their arms up, smiles of delight wreathing their faces.ThenDevonlooks down at me again, andI’mconsumed by the intensity of his gaze.Energysparks along my spine, and my breathing almost stutters to a halt.

Oh,Ineed him.Ineed him soon.Ican’t wait for the requisite after-party to end so we can go back to my room.Asmuch asIstill don’t know what’s going to happen in a couple of weeks whenI’msupposed to go home,I’mnot sure giving this up—givinghimup—is a possibility anymore.Ifit ever was.

MaybeI’lllook into the application process for some of the art schools in the area after all.Itcan’t hurt just to consider all my options… right?

Cassiegrabs my arm and leads me to the gate, where a man wearing a shirt that saysSecuritylets us out.Wefollow the passage back toCrossfire’sdressing room and wait there for the four of them to finish up on stage.

Complimentarybottles of water in hand, we move toward the couch, but before we can make ourselves comfortable, the door opens, and a pretty blond woman sticks her head through.Hereyes flash wide when she sees us.

“Oh,” she says. “Iwas hoping we could wait in here for the band.”

Idon’t know who theweis, butI’mguessing she and her friends are fans who are hoping to get a little one-on-one time with the guys.Thoughhow they managed to get through security is a mystery.Wherethere’s a will, there’s a way,Isuppose.

Ilook atCassie, hoping she knows how to handle this situation.

Cassiegives her a smile. It’ssmall but genuine. “Youcan’t wait in here.Ifyou have passes for the after-party, you can wait for the band there, though.”

Thewoman screws up her face. “You’rein here.”

Myspine stiffens at the woman’s rude tone, andI’moffended onCassie’sbehalf. “She’sallowed to be.She’sthe lead singer’s fiancée.”

Theknowledge doesn’t faze the woman.Shejust turns her snide attitude on me. “Andwho are you?”
