"There is a big difference," she said lifting up her hands in frustration and warning me with a look.

"I care for him a lot."

"Then tell him that. I'm sure he cares a lot for you, too. Wait for his arrival, talk it out. I'm sure you both will work something out."

"Why do you believe in him so much? You haven’t even met him.”

She shrugged. "He sounds like a great guy. Far better than those assholes you dated."

"You're a good friend."

"I know. Now get dressed!”

I walked back into my bedroom feeling a whole lot lighter. I got to my wardrobe and selected the first dress my hand felt. It was the red sundress I wore the night Raymond stayed over at my place. I'd told him that night to just hold me tight and we'd cuddled till morning. My heart constricted seeing it and for a moment I faltered but I steeled my mind and pulled it out. I've not lost him yet. Just like Kaitlyn said, he would still come back. No matter how long it took, he would. I know he would.

I smiled to myself, feeling the first burst of relief all day. I put on the clothes and selected the footwear to match the outfit. In less than a few minutes I was done, and I reappeared to Kaitlyn in the sitting room.

Her approving gaze as she assessed my outfit told me I'd scored A1 in the effort department.

"Alright, no makeup, but I can forgive that. You just need a little blush on your cheeks and powder to cover your eyebags, then you'll be perfect!"

"I don't want make up, Kaitlyn," I said.

"C'mon, just a little. It won't hurt. I have some in my bag." She swamped me before I raised another objection and made me sit down on the couch, dabbing powder and then blush on my face. After some time, she leaned back to critically examine her work.

"Perfecto." She exclaimed grinning like a mouse that got the cheese. "Now, we can go."

For all my bluster, I peeked at the mirror and instantly loved what she’d done to my face. The make-up was barely noticeable but the effects were very clear. I'd 'glowed' up.

"Who's the sexiest girl on the beach right now?" she asked.

I hid a smile. "Me."

"Who's the baddest girl on the block?"

I wasn't bothering to hide my smile now. This girl was a mess. "Me!"

"Who's not waiting around for any man before having the best day of her life?"

I grinned hugely. "Me!!"

"Who's gonna shake her ass on a yacht right now?!!"

I was laughing so hard now, holding my sides.

"Me! Me, baby!"

"Good, that's the energy. Now let's go and have some fun."

CHAPTER 18

RAYMOND

Iwas in Malibu.

Having flown back the day before with Kaitlyn, putting the first leg of my plan in motion, all I could do now was just wait. But the wait was driving me crazy.

First of all, I still had to make Sophie believe that I wasn’t in Malibu so I rented an inlet closer to the sea and a long way from my villa. It killed me trying to imagine how hurt she was by all of this, but right now I desperately relied on my plan to make everything right.
