Although I haven’t yet met Leyla, I’ve had enough telephone conversations with her to know that she probably would do exactly that if I had forgotten it. “Oh, I can only imagine what Leyla would say if I had forgotten the dress. But don’t worry, Ginny, I’ve got it, and it’s perfect.”

“Wait until you see the wedding dress!”

“Hold on a minute. You lost a bridesmaid? What happened?”

“My cousin Rosie pulled out at the last minute. She’s ill or something, couldn’t travel. It was really random. Honestly, I think she was more worried about seeing her sister Olive. There’s a lot of family drama going on right now.” Ginny leans in conspicuously and rolls her eyes. “I’m glad this is a Turkish wedding because if it was in a church, my side would be awfully bare.”

“It’s funny you should say that.”

I gesture towards the car that is still idling behind us. Ginny follows my gaze. “What’s happening?”

“I’ve been trying to call you for days.”

“I saw your missed calls. Sorry. It’s just been so crazy with the wedding preparation.”

Just then, the front passenger side door of the car opens, and Kaan steps out with a grin on his face.

“Holy shit! Are you Kaan?” Ginny’s eyes widen, her gaze darting between Kaan and me. “Is that Kaan?”

I shrug but don’t reply letting her come to the realisation by herself.

“Are you for real?”

“It’s great to meet you, Ginny. Meg talks about you constantly.” He walks over and pulls her into a hug. “Hayat boyu mutluluklar dilerim!”

“Çok tesekkürler.”

I give them both a skeptical look, wanting to know the meaning behind his words. "What did he just say?"

“He’s just congratulating me on the wedding.” Ginny smile could light up the sky right now. “Why didn’t you tell me Kaan was coming with you?”

“It was all very last minute.” I shrug easily, trying to ignore the tension between us. “I’m babysitting Mr. Rock Star here, so he had to tag along.”

Kaan glares at me from over the top of Ginny’s head. “She’s not babysitting.”

Still wrapped in his arms Ginny turns her head towards me. “I’m being hugged by Kaan.”

“You are.”

“You smell amazing!”

“Thank you.”

“He smells better than Aydin… if that’s at all possible.”

Kaan laughs easily. “That seems like it might be a real compliment.”

“Don’t forget you’re engaged to be married, Green Eyes.”

I jump at the sound of a deep voice behind us, and turn to see Ginny’s fiancé stepping through the gate. In his mid-thirties now, Aydin is undeniably handsome, aging like a fine wine…verywell indeed. Tall, broad shouldered, with a healthy head of hair, he smiles easily and kids around, makes eye contact and makes you feel like what you say matters. He also has that same goofy look of contentment and happiness. Yes, these two are sickeningly in love.

Ginny doesn’t let go of Kaan. “I haven’t forgotten.”

I giggle and playfully wrap my arms around Ginny’s waist, pulling her away from Kaan. “Are you absolutely certain?”

Ginny eventually relinquishes her grip allowing Kaan and Aydin greet each other with a man hug before switching to Turkish. It only takes a moment for Ginny and I to realise that they are already firm friends.

“You two know each other?”
