“Stop asking me about that,” he says darkly, leaning into my neck and putting his hand on my hip, pulling me close to him so I can feel his erection.

“Enzo!” I admonish. “Does that thing ever go down?”

“Not around you.” He chuckles, pulling on my earlobe with his teeth.

“We’re going to screw each other to death, you know, before we even get to talk to Angelo.”

“Not a bad way to go,” he says in my ear, his hand reaching down to pull my nipple, and I squirm under his touch.I will never grow old of this.

“I think I could handle it.” He pulls me against him as he rolls onto his back, and I roll on top of him.

“This is how we need to be,belladonna, always.”

I lay my body down on top of his and we hold each other tight.

I never want to let him go, and I tell him as such.

Again, I push away any untoward thoughts that keep creeping in. I don’t want the darkness sneaking into my dreams, tainting them and making me question this sense of peace I have around him.

I hold Enzo that much tighter as he eases his way into me slowly.I just hope that I’m holding on tightly enough.

* * *

I wake to the sound of Enzo’s phone ringing. I glance beside me and see that he’s still lying on his back and looks extremely reluctant to answer the phone as he looks half asleep.

I hear him mutter that it’s Angelo, so I guess he’s kind of obliged to take it.

He sits upright and takes the call groggily, propping his pillows up.

I decide to roll out of bed and make some coffee while he’s talking. I hope there hasn’t been any further advancements on what was sent to my office. My stomach lurches. I had almost forgotten about it,almost, with having Enzo around me as my own personal security blanket.

I wonder absently how Bianca went at the casino last night. She was more interested in being able to use the facilities and hit the day spa. She was ecstatic when she found out Santino was put in charge of taking her home to gather her things to take back to her suite.

Angelo safeguards everybody important to him, or to any of his siblings, sometimes that extends to friends too

I smile to myself.

Both of my cousins are good guys. I just hope she isn’t getting any fancy ideas about what she might like to do to Santino or he’s definitely in trouble. At least she isn’t crushing on Jonas, who in total is a bit of a man-whore. He has that baby face like Fynn, that seems to get away with everything and anything.

I busy myself in the kitchen. I can’t hear what Enzo is saying, as he’s talking very quietly, and he is still thick with sleep. Putting some toast down, I brew a pot of coffee.

I never could have imagined that it could be like this with him, waking up in bed and making breakfast. It’s like a dream come true. If only there wasn’t all this other shit, like threats, secret surveillance, and missing fingers.

I know there are things Enzo is choosing not to tell me. I know they have their own intel and can find out anything. I also hope, beyond all else, that this doesn’t lead back to Toby.

The guy may be many things, including a complete douchebag, but I don’t think he is capable of coming up with some mastermind attempt at threatening my life. That seems a little bit out there, even for him. From what Enzo told me, it kind of seemed like he got the message after Enzo broke his nose.

I haven’t heard from him since.

When I walk back with the toast and the coffee on a tray, Enzo is out of bed, getting dressed. I take in his glorious body as he slips on a pair of sweatpants and throws a t-shirt on.

“Leaving so soon?” I muse.

He doesn’t look pleased.

“E, what’s wrong? Did something happen?”

He glances up at me holding the breakfast and looks decidedly torn in what to say, or more like, what he can tell me. “Angelo was just checking in.”
