VALENTINA

“With an ass like that,I don’t understand how he’s working for your brother and not stripping for a living,” Bianca says as we both watch Enzo leave. “Such a waste.”

I don’t argue; she’s got a point. “I should not be looking. He’s practically my brother.”

Bianca makes a face. “You’re not even related, for heaven’s sake. He’s hot, Valentina. Don’t pretend you don’t see it.”

Of course I see it. I’ve been seeing it for most of my life.

The point is, it’sEnzo, and I meant what I said—he is practically another brother.

I’ve always known and quietly observed the fact he’s a gorgeous man. There’s no denying it.

I’ve had a crush on Enzo Russo since I was a teenager, but then again, so did most of my friends.

“I’m not pretending.” To try and defend myself with Bianca would be entirely useless, so I try complete honesty instead. “He’s hot, but he’s in theI can never go therefile, along with the,he doesn’t even know I’m alivefile.”

She turns to me. “You know, the only reason I haven’t made a play for him is because of you and your damn crush.”

I frown. “May I remind you that crush was a million years ago.”

“Yeah? Then why are you all ga-ga for him whenever you run into him?”

I narrow my eyes. “I do no such thing!”

She gives me a pointed look. “He managed to melt my panties, and he only said a few words.”

“That’s because it’s you.” I give her a pat on the arm. “And you’re kinda boy crazy, B.”

“Hey, I digress, not suppress, sister. And If I had my way, I’d be suppressing all over Enzo’s cock.”

I shake my head and leave her to go back to my desk. I don’t need to be thinking about Enzo like that… even if he did look freaking amazing in that suit.

A few minutes later, she comes in with her coffee, opens her mouth, then sees the bag of pretzels on the desk. “Do not tell me that he brought those too?”

I look at the bag absentmindedly as I read an email. “He’s thoughtful, and sweet, and kind, handsome and funny, don’t remind me. Oh, and now I get to spend an entire weekend with him.”

She sits down opposite me, her interest piqued. “What are you talking about now?”

I sigh. “Angelo told Enzo he has to escort me to the wedding.”

She reaches into the bag and pulls out a pretzel, popping it into her mouth.

“And this is bad, because?”

“Sexual frustration, mainly,” I admit. “And I kinda asked him about… what we spoke about last week…”

A look of horror spreads across her face. “You did what?”

I nod sagely. “I know, I sort of just came out with it;will you be my pretend boyfriend for the weekend, and he totally freaked.”

She looks deep in thought as she chews. “This isn’t a bad thing,” she says eventually. “But it would have been better waiting until you were there. In Connecticut, you’re kinda stuck, so he’d have no escape.”

“That’s exactly my point. I thought he’d be cool with it. Toby will be there, and I’d kinda like to make him jealous.”

Toby is the guy I had a relationship with until he cheated, left me brokenhearted and then decided to go travel the world. It would be satisfying to show him what he’s been missing out on, since he texted me a few times since he got back, texts I’ve ignored.

Which means using Enzo, but that part I was upfront about, sort of. Even though the look on Enzo’s face was less than impressed when I told him the reasons why I wanted him to be my fake date.
