I shot someone, not just someone,a woman.

I feel Fynn push me to the ground when I try to sit up. He pulls off his sweater and presses it over my shoulder as I curse like a motherfucker.

Oh I can definitely feel it now.

“Just keep fucking breathing,” he tells me.

“I’m fine.”

“You’re bleeding.”

I sit for a second, trying to gather myself. “Did Garrett…”

“Yes, he’s secured,” Enzo says, crouching down. “You good?”

I nod. “I’m okay.”

“I need to keep the pressure on and get you to the emergency room,” Fynn says. I’ve never seen him look so worried; he looks as pale as I feel.

“Fynn, it’s a graze.”

“Tell that to the blood oozing out of you.”

He slowly helps me to my feet. I do feel a little lightheaded.

“The woman needs to be taken care of,” I mutter as he takes my gun from me. “I shot her.”

“The soldiers will dispose of her,” Fynn assures me. “And the evidence.”

I shudder at that, too. She might have been willing to kill me for just being there, but I don’t know how I feel about killing a woman. This has never happened before.

“Ready to move?” Garrett gives us a chin lift as he pulls up the guy from the ground. He has his wrists tied back with cable ties, spinning him around to face us.

It’s then that Fynn and I both stop as we look at him. He looks familiar somehow…

I hear Fynn gasp. Then he swears.

“Holy fucking shit,” I mutter, staring. Wondering if I’m actually seeing things in my haze of being shot.

Fynn stops dead in his tracks as he stares at the guy, the color draining from his face. We both know him.

“I don’t fucking believe it,” Fynn says, shaking his head.

“What the fuck are you doing here?”

Breathe.I tell myself.

You’re okay.

Where are you?I’m in my suite at the casino.

What can you see?The couch. The dining table.

Inhale. Exhale. You’re safe.
