Angelo sighs. “You okay?”

He frowns. “About that carcass?”

Angelo nods.

“Of course I am, never better, actually.”

He cups his face. “I did what I had to do back then because I thought it would make you stronger. I fucked up too. I shouldn’t have put that on you. It was wrong. Nothing will ever be more important to me than my brothers, do you understand?”

Wow. Angelo apologizing. That’s a first.

“What about Rayne?” Fynn quips.

I roll my eyes. “Rayne has her own zip code. She doesn’t count.”

Angelo snorts. “Got that right.” He slaps Fynn on the shoulder. “Go get your brother sewn up. Not a word about this to Sage.”

If only things were that simple.

The second Sage is let into Angelo’s makeshift office, she looks around a little startled.

The second her eyes land on Fynn, she scowls. “What mess have you gotten into now?”

He points to me. “It’s Dante. Therefore, you’re kinda required to patch him up.”

She rolls her eyes but doesn’t make a big deal.

One thing’s for sure, Sage’s loyalties lie with us.

I feel bad for Fynn though, she has no idea what just took place, and when she sees the blood on Fynn’s and my clothes, she doesn’t ask any questions.

Forever loyal. That’s why I like her so much for Fynn. She stands up to him, she isn’t afraid, and best of all, she’s got real gumption. That’s so rare these days.

I only want the best for my brother; truth be told, I don’t think any other woman will catch his eye like she does.

Why the hell they fight it, I’ll never know.

“You look lovely, by the way,” he adds as she rests her medical bag down on Angelo’s desk.

She snorts. “Seriously?”

Fynn gives me a side-eye as I try not to laugh and start unbuttoning my shirt so she can see the wound.

“What?”

“Don’t even worry about it.”

I glance between the two of them.

My brother, the playboy bachelor, and the woman he secretly loves.

I don’t know how she doesn’t see it. I fucking see it.

Or maybe they just lie to themselves.

“Do you want me to have him removed?” I ask Sage, earning an eye roll from Fynn.

“I’d like to see you try,” he retorts.
