I give her a lopsided smile. “See I’m not the big, bad wolf after all.”
“I never thought you were. I just felt hurt that you never even texted me after that night, and dumb because I could’ve texted you first.”
It still pains me that I did that to her. “I know and I’m sorry about that. I realize now how bad that looks. I never meant any of it, making you sad or upset was never my intention.”
She nods. “I know, and I’m sorry too.”
“What for?”
“For not giving you the benefit of the doubt. I should have. I know that now.”
I nod toward the ice. “Your friends and sister are waiting.”
“Why don’t you skate with me?”
I laugh. “Not a chance.”
“Don’t be so boring!”
She starts to move away as I watch her, mesmerized by everything she does.
I know I have to tread carefully with her. I can’t just go rushing in, even though every single part of me wants to. Just seeing her like this, it’s enough to make me extremely happy. I can’t even imagine the possibility of spending a night in her arms. That will come, I hope. I try not to think about that night in the kitchen, even if it does have a starring role in all of my late-night self-care sessions alone in my bed. She was so fucking hot. As much as I want to sleep with her, I know that our connection is so much deeper than just physical. It’s something worth holding on to.
After another forty-five minutes, the girls decide it’s time to eat. I’ve already organized hotdogs for everyone since Rayne says it’s a New York tradition after you ice skate. The girls are animated and happy as we take off for a drive around the city before returning to the hotel.
It’s late when Ashley and Caroline bundle off into a taxi after hugging everyone goodbye, including myself and Darko, much to his bemused face.
In the elevator, Mia is animated and happy, re-telling the way she, Caroline, and Ashley all fell down together when one held onto the other on the ice.
I know that the night is drawing to an end. I don’t want this to be it, but it’s awkward with Rayne here.
Darko says goodnight, and Rayne gives me a hug, then says, “Thank you so much again for tonight. It was really magical.”
I smile. “No problem. I’m glad you enjoyed it.”
Mia gives me a hug and a peck on the cheek, It isn’t nearly enough, but I’ll take it. She smells like cotton candy and my dick stirs again.
“Thank you,” she whispers. “I’ll remember tonight for the rest of my life.”
I nod, trying not to linger. “I’m glad. Good night, ladies.”
“Good night,” they chime as they head to Mia’s room.
I swipe my card at my door and watch them disappear into her room.
I don’t even get inside when a text comes through. Pulling my phone from my jeans pocket, I’m surprised to see it’s Mia.
Mia: I’ll let you know when I can get rid of my sis x
I chuckle to myself, running a hand over my face as I shrug out of my jacket.
I type back.Did you have something in mind?
I know I’m being flirtatious, but she started it. And I’d like nothing more than to spend the night with her, if that’s what she wants.
Mia: I’m not as innocent as I look.
There goes my dick again. I groan, just imagining her is enough to make me weak in the knees.
