Ace shrugs, “Who doesn’t like disarming bombs?”

“Normal people,” Mal points out drily.

“Good point,” Ace replies thoughtfully and turns to look at an amused Lorcan, “so?”

“Sorry dude, nothing for you to diffuse. We’re all good too.” He replies.

“Let's get out of here then. We’re more exposed than I’d like,” Rip practically orders, and we all do as he’s said and get into the cars.

Once we’re on the way back to our place, I pull out my phone, ready to call Sawyer and check in, when I find a message from him already waiting for me.

“I’ve got a message from Sawyer. He says his mom is fine, and they treated her with respect. She’s exhausted though so she’s gone to bed, and he’s wondering if I want him to still come up to the house to go over the raven stuff. I’ll send him a message now and let him know what’s going on.”

“Good idea,” Mason replies and then adds, “so that was interesting. I don’t think she would have asked for the Raven's help to get the information back for her if it weren’t for you.”

“No, she would never have admitted that she was in a position that was that vulnerable,” Rome agrees with him.

“It’s going to be an interesting job, that’s for sure,” Ace adds.

“We need to get the Ravens all sorted, make sure I know what I’m dealing with and put some things in place for the meeting at the end of next week. Then we can immediately start the job,” I say, thinking out loud.

“We need to sign out of school as well and finish our last year at home. We definitely don’t have enough time to be doing school as well.” Rip points out.

“Shit, I’d completely forgotten about that. I’ll message Gerald now and see if he can get me out of it,” I reply.

Ace clears his throat, “I’ll sort out ours. We won’t need to go back. Jynx, if you’d like, I can do yours too, and then Gerald doesn’t have to go through the complicated process, although he still needs to be made aware that’s what we are doing.”

I nod and smile gratefully, “Yeah, please, that would be great. We’re going to have to add studying for our GEDs to the list of shit that we need to do.”

“It’s okay, we can get it done and if I have to I can forge the results and shit anyway,” Ace replies, nonchalant in his answer.

“Good point,” Rome replies and then changes the subject entirely, “I don’t suppose you’ve heard from Ever, have you? I didn’t like leaving her.”

I shake my head, “No, I haven’t, and I doubt I will. I hate it, but D is working on a plan to get her out, and she won’t leave unless she knows it’s not going to cause any backlash and that she won’t be forced to go back.”

Rome isn’t the only one frowning at my words but they’ve met her now. They know that there is no way that she would have come with us. The rest of the ride back home is silent as we’re all lost in our own thoughts, I never want to leave Ever, but I also respect her choices and decisions. She’s strong and deadly, I have to believe that she can handle whatever the fuck her father throws at her.

“Sawyer has just pulled up behind us,” Rip comments as we pull through the gates and head up the long driveway home, Sawyer following up behind Asher and the rest of the conspiracy following after him.

When we get up to the house we all jump out and I head straight for the front door, knowing that Gerald is probably going to want an update and that we’ve got a fuck ton of stuff to go over, and the sun is now starting to set.

Of course, the door opens before I get there, and I smile warmly at Gerald, “Hey, Gerald, you will be pleased to know that everything went off without a hitch, and Eve is now safely at home. Mona also hired us for a job,” I tell him.

His smile is proud as he replies, “As I expected, miss, and I’m surprised that Mona agreed to hire outside help.”

His words are very telling, and I once again feel like he knows a lot more than he lets on. However, no is not the time to question him on it, so instead, I reply, “Yes, well I’ve dealt with Mona in the past. She knows that I get shit done.”

He smiles again, his eyes flashing with even more knowledge. He glances behind me as everyone else starts to file past and into the main living area, where we met and discussed the plan to rescue Eve earlier. “Very well. I imagine that you must all be hungry. Shall I order some pizzas?”

Nodding, I reply, “Yes, please, I’m fucking starving.”

He doesn’t bother replying to me, simply smiles and then walks off further into the house to order the food, and I make my way into the front room where everyone is gathered.

“We’ve already filled Sawyer in on what Mona wanted,” Dax tells me as soon as he sees me, and I nod, as I take a seat on Mal’s lap.

“Great thanks.” I reply, “So the plan is fairly straightforward at this point. I need to know as much as I can about the Ravens before next Friday, which gives me six days. We will then book the first visit to Mona’s on Saturday.”

“And you’d like us to be involved?” Asher asks, and it’s become evident that he is the leader of the group.
