I nod, “Yeah, Mona runs a tight ship which is why it’s surprising not only that she’s been hacked but also that someone has been able to take her daughter.”

Ace nods, “Thank fuck for that. I’ll meet you guys in the car.”

“Alright,” Rome replies.

As the rest of us head back outside and get back into the car to wait for him, Rip asks, “Do you know how old her daughter is?”

“I’ve never met her. Obviously, Mona keeps work and her daughter extremely separate to the point that knowledge of her daughter's existence is reasonably limited to keep her safe. Having said that, I am reasonably sure that she’s sixteen.”

Rip breathes out a breath of relief, “Not to sound callous, but I am glad that she isn’t little. By sixteen, she should have at least some basic survival instincts that should help her stay alive.”

“I agree. I was worrying about that too,” Mason replies.

The conversation pauses as Ace gets into the car, “Sorry it took me a bit longer; Murphy was lying on it and refused to move. I had to bribe him.”

I burst out laughing as I picture Ace pleading and begging with a grumpy Murphy to get off his laptop.

“Jynx, if you could direct me we’ll probably get there quicker than if we let Mason navigate the GPS,” Rome suggests and earns himself a glare from Mason.

“It’s not my fault that they make them so complicated to use,” Mason huffs from beside me in the back seat.

“That’s not the problem. You know how to use them; you just don’t agree with any of the directions that it gives you and then argue with it,” Malachi points out, grinning at his twin.

Since it looks like Mason isn’t going to bother to reply to that statement, I respond to Rome instead, “Yeah, I can do that. It shouldn’t take us too long to get there, and we don’t want Mason having an argument with an inanimate object on the way there.”

Mason’s head whips around to face me as the others burst out laughing; his eyes are shining with amusement as he growls, “Oh, that’s how you want to play this? Just you wait, Jynx!”

I smirk as I reply, “Oh, now that sounds like a fun threat.”

Rather than replying to me, he pulls me closer to him as his lips descend on mine, I instantly open for him as his tongue moves with mine in the most sensual way, which has me thinking that it really has been far too long since I had him naked, and I’m going to have to fix that really soon.

“Erm, as much as I’m enjoying watching this, I’m going to have to interrupt because I need directions; we’ve already driven around the block once,” Rome announces after a while, and I kiss Mase one more time before I pull back and grin at Rome, meeting his eyes in the rear-view mirror.

“Thanks for the extra time.”

He winks at me, “Any time Koroleva.”

“Take the next right when you get to the end of this road, and then head to the edge of town,” I instruct him.

“Got it.”

“Do we need to call in the Conspiracy team now that the case has changed to a kidnap case as well as stolen information?” Rip asks me.

I shake my head, “No, we can handle this. If it turns out the kidnapper is someone who has a lot of firepower at their disposal, then we’ll need to call in backup, but for now, we can handle this. As I said to Sawyer, they’ve done at least three jobs that I know of back to back, and they need a proper rest before they do something else that intense. I’m not losing anyone because they’re overtired and not properly rested.”

“I think that’s smart, although I am going to insist that as soon as this job is done that we have an extended rest. The others are quite capable of handing out jobs, and to be honest, they might all be out on jobs anyway by the time that we’ve sorted this,” Rome’s tone of voice leaves absolutely no room for argument, not that he’s going to get one from me anyway, I want a rest.

“I can live with that,” Ace replies while the rest of us all nod. “Although, we do need to try and figure out what’s going on with our families at some point.”

“Yeah, we do, but that can wait at least a few days before we dive into it. They’re still going to be trying to kill us, and I don’t imagine that a few days' rest is going to make any difference to that,” Malachi points out.

“Good point,” Ace agrees.

The drive to Mona’s goes quickly, and I try to suppress a yawn as we’re let through the gates and onto the vast grounds of the house that Mona calls home. It’s been a long day, and the meeting went on until half past nine, so it is well and truly dark now, and I’m ready for bed. Although, I don’t think that’s going to be happening anytime soon. Mona better have some damn coffee for us because otherwise, I’m going to be practically fucking useless.

“We should have stopped to get coffee on the way here,” Rip says, looking at me concerned.

“I’m fine and I’m sure that Mona has coffee somewhere in this giant house,” I reply.
