“I hope so,” I reply, feeling emotion start to build in my throat, “now go and have a shower. You stink.”

She chuckles, flips me off, thanks the guys for helping to rescue her, and then strides from the room full of confidence and hope that she’s going to get her normal.

Turning back to Mona, I still have a smile on my face, and she returns it with one of her own.

“Thank you for resolving this as quickly as you have,” Mona starts, getting back to business, “payment has already been sent, and you can count on our assistance in the future. We are officially the Raven's allies.”

My smile grows, “Thank you. That is very much appreciated, and as you know, if you need any assistance with anything, just call. I will let D know that you will be calling as well.”

Mona smiles and stands, signaling that this meeting is over, “Thank you.”

“Oh, you might want to listen to Fredrick’s ideas for improving security around here, he’s been paying attention, and there are some pretty big security gaps,” I add.

Mona frowns heavily, “I will.”

We say our goodbyes and then the guys and I make our way out to the car. We’re silent until we get in the car and start to drive down the long drive and past the gates.

“Well, that didn’t take nearly as long as I thought it was going to,” Ace announces, sounding pretty fucking happy about it.

“Thank fuck for that,” Rip replies, his hand threading through mine, and I lean my head on his shoulder.

“It was a lot less complicated than I thought it was going to be too,” Mason points out and adds, “I mean, how often do we do a job where there is no bloodshed and we get a confession without really having to ask any questions.”

I chuckle, “Never. Is it bad that I’m kind of disappointed?”

“Yes,” Rome replies, his eyes twinkling with amusement as they meet mine in the rearview mirror.

I shrug; it is what it is, and I can’t change the fact that I’m a little bit fucked up, and to be honest, I don’t really want to.

“Do you think Rylie is going to end up in the same town as Alaric and Atlas?” Malachi asks curiously.

I nod, “Yeah, Rylie has her heart set on it, and she can be fucking stubborn plus, I think Mona knows that she needs this. I doubt that Atlas or Alaric will ever know who she is though, not unless they are under serious threat, and I mean serious. Rylie will try to deal with it herself.”

“Well, at least you’ll know where she is if you ever want to check in on her,” Ace adds.

I shake my head, “I will for the next six months or so, but D has relocated people before; he will be telling them that they need to move on within six months or so to avoid making too much of an impact and being recognised. After that, I’ll have no idea where they are; even if they decide not to heed D’s advice and stay in town, I still won’t know for certain.”

“That’s actually really smart,” Rome says, sounding impressed as we pull onto our drive.

“Are you really surprised? I mean, it is D,” Rip replies with a grin.

“Good point.”

As we all get out of the car, Mal asks, “So what are we doing now? It didn’t last as long as we thought it was going to, so are we still taking some time off, or are we going to see if there’s another job to do?”

Before I can reply, Rome does, and his voice is firm, “No, we are taking at least a few days rest now.”

“You took the words right out of my mouth,” I chuckle, and we head inside. “I’m just going to let Sawyer know what’s going on and check on how things are going.”

“No accepting any jobs. You have to trust that your people can handle them,” Rip replies, raising his eyebrow at me.

I stick my tongue out at him because he’s right and then pull my phone out, heading into the front room to make the call while all of the guys disperse to do their own things.

“Jynx, is everything okay? Do you need backup?” Sawyer answers immediately, peppering me with questions and making me smile.

“Everything is fine. I was just ringing to check in and make sure everything is running smoothly with the Ravens?”

“Yeah, everything is actually going surprisingly smoothly. Everyone we have is on jobs that are well within their capabilities, and we’ve already got some more jobs coming in. nothing that needs our immediate attention.” He explains.
