I nod, “Yeah, let's not risk that at all. I don’t fancy plummeting to my death. Ace’s it is.”

“Good choice,” Mason grins, and I stick my tongue out at him.

“And my family estate is right on the very outskirts of town, it’s a fucker to get to and is in the middle of the woods, until we know for sure that they’re gone Ace’s house is the safest one for us to get to and potentially stay in.”

I nod, “Right, okay that makes more sense. There’s no sense putting us in more danger if there’s an easier and safer option.”

“Exactly. We’ll check it out at some point, but we’ve got more important things to deal with now.” Rip replies, and I smile in agreement.

Rome’s mind has clearly been focused on other things while we’ve been talking about this because when he speaks, it’s in reply to Ace, “Okay, so forget hacking the cameras then, we’ll just risk it. Jynx, you call Sawyer to see if he can have the dogs and Murphy, also, maybe see if you can have some Ravens ready to be backup, just in case. We don’t want them to be involved, but it would be stupid to put ourselves in danger because we have no backup, and we’re outnumbered.”

“Got it. I’ll call him now,” I reply as I stand up and head toward the kitchen to make the call, leaving the guys to go over the plan for what we’re going to do when we get there.

“Jynx, is everything okay? I wasn’t expecting to hear from you today,” Sawyer answers immediately and I can honestly say that he and the others from the Conspiracy team have become friends as well as teammates.

“We’ve had something come up, and I need to ask you a favour?” I reply.

“Absolutely. What do you need?”

I have to be careful how I word what I say from this point on, as it's really not safe for them to be involved, and if they do need to be, it has to be the last resort, which is why he also needs enough information to be well-informed. It’s a fine line that I have to walk between giving him too much and not enough.

“We have to go out of town and I was wondering if you’d be okay to look after the dogs and Murphy? Gerald is unable to do so this time, and we don’t know how long we’re going to be going for, so we can’t leave them here.”

“Yeah, I can do that, so long as I’ve got any new commands Ace has taught the dogs and feeding schedule and all that,” he replies immediately.

“Thanks I really appreciate it,” I reply, breathing out a sigh of relief. I really didn’t want to risk taking them with us after what Ace said they’re parents could do to them.

“No problem,” he replies, and then asks, “Do you need me or the rest of the Conspiracy team?”

Smiling even though he can’t see me, I reply, “Not at the moment, but be prepared to send any of the Ravens that are free if I make the call.”

“Okay, I can do that. Do you want me to put any jobs on hold?”

“No, don't do that, just in case we don’t need them. I want things to stay running as smoothly as possible.”

“What if you need back up and everyone is on a job?” he asks, sounding concerned.

“Then I’ll call in a couple of favours, don’t worry we will be fine. I just wanted to make you aware. Also, call me if it's an emergency but I don’t need regular updates.”

“Got it.” He replies, “When do you need to bring the dogs and Murphy over?”

“Erm, probably in about an hour if that’s okay, but I’ll message and let you know when we’re leaving. Are you still living at your mom’s?”

“No, Dax and I actually moved in with the rest of the Conspiracy. Do you remember me telling you that Fox inherited a massive plot of land?”

“Yeah?” I reply.

“Well, he and the others have built individual cabins surrounding the main house where they eat together and hang out; it’s actually really cool.”

“That sounds awesome. I can’t wait to see it. Double check with them that they’re okay with having the dogs and Murphy up there,” I reply, hoping that they are because I’m not sure where they’re going to go otherwise.

“I will but I’m sure it’s fine, I’ll send you a text with the address in and see you in an hour or so,” he replies.

“See you soon. Thanks, Sawyer.”

“No problem.”

I place my phone back into my pocket as I walk back into the front room and say, “Sawyer is fine with having the animals. I told him we’d drop them off in an hour or so. What’s the plan?”
