With a deep growl, Hyde turned his red gaze toward the last man standing..

The sharp edge of the knife glinted as he brought it closer to Talia's throat, leaving behind another thin, red line. The unsaid threat, obvious.

“Move” the word was barely a gurgling whisper around the broken bottle still stuck in his throat.

With a tilt of his head, Hydes' red glowing eyes flicked towards the door and then back to the wounded man. Flickering the blood and sinew off his claws, he shook his head slowly.

His every sense honed in on every muscle and nervous twitch of the Lycan in front of him. Even as he felt his own wolfs muscles bunching, getting ready.

Without warning, Talia’s hand rose to the top of the bottle. She wrenched it free, blood spurting down her back as the wound gushed.. Dropping to the floor, she scrambled under the table.

Pulling the man toward him, Hyde’s maw covering his entire head. Crushing down on the skull, his teeth piercing the brain as he tore the head off its shoulders. Tossing it loose with a shake of his muzzle to roll into the fire.

His blood-soaked jaws lifting, he howled. A long and victorious sound. A sound full of bold claim and challenge to any who thought they could take him.

He lowered his muzzle and turned around. His gaze meeting her wide-eyed stare.

Talia's lungs burned as she fought to breathe, her gaze locked on the menacing black werewolf looming before her. Its red glowing eyes staring directly at her. Crouching low, the red gaze never leaving hers as the blood-covered werewolf inched towards her.

“No,” her voice shaking, her hand rising as if to ward off a blow, her voice rising in pitch as it took another step forward

“No. No, stay!”

Scooting backwards, her whole body frantic as she shook her head. A soft energy rising off the massive beast as it kept moving forward cautiously. Her back hitting the wood wall of the cabin with a sudden thud.

The black fur inched towards her, smearing fresh blood on the floor as it hunkered down low.

Her breathing growing more and more ragged as power flowed from the beast. Wanting to squeeze her eyes closed, Talia couldn't take her eyes off it.

A crackling energy filled the air, raising the hairs on her arms. Her eyes widening as the monstrous figure began to shimmer and its body contorted. Flowing in on itself until a large, intimidating wolf with deep red eyes that never left her face replaced it. Step by slow step, it inched closer and closer.

A soft whine leaving its throat as it lowered its head.

Talia drew her legs up closer to her chest, trembling uncontrollably. The black wolf pressing its nose first to her leg than her hand, its intelligent eyes watching her every reaction as it pressed closer yet.

Its entire body leaning against hers, as it rose high enough to push its nose into the hair at her nape. Its warmth radiating into her.

Talia closed her eyes, giving a half-choked sob. A tear sliding down her cheek.

Whining a little, his enormous head brushing under her chin as its tongue licked away the tear.

Undone Talia broke.

Her arms unlocking and wrapping around the neck of the large animal, burying her face in his thick coat of fur. She sobbed. Unable to think past the overwhelming confusion of emotions that poured through her. She let her fingers wrap into the hair of the wolf, holding him even tighter. Her whole body shaking with what felt like a never-ending stream of tears.

Some part of her rational brain knew it was Hyde that she clung to, knew that it was the beast that had just rained chaos and blood through the small cabin. But right at that moment, she didn’t care.

The heavy press of the wolfs body against hers was the only real and safe thing in her world. The harder she wept, the closer the wolf pressed into her. She wasn’t alone in the darkness.

He had come for her.

Refusing to think anymore, she let the wash of emotions flow out of her, drowning the wolfs fur in tears.

She had no idea how long she sat. Her arms wrapped tightly around the warm body as she cried. Her thoughts were a torrent of chaos. But gradually a soft whispering soothing flow of words pierced her conscious.

“It’s ok, I’ve got you.” His voice, normally full of angry growling, was low, gentle. “You’re going to be alright. They can't hurt you anymore.”

Opening her eyes, Talia blinked against the flow of tears.
