Pulse quickening, Talia licked her suddenly dry lips. Every inch of her trembling as his gaze moved to her mouth.

“Sit,” the deep growl full of command made her jump a little. Hating herself for it, she turned to sit on the seat. He sat next to her on the black vinyl as she slid until the wall locked her in place.

Hyper-aware of his body only a few inches away from hers. The warmth of his skin radiating, giving her no option but to be conscious of how close he was.

The silence between them highlighted by the soft hum of the few customers that shared the dinner with them. She kept her eyes fixed on the table, unwilling to meet his gaze. Instead, she pulled the menu over and pretended to read the standard options places like this all seemed to serve.

It was only as Thorn settled across the table that she looked up.

The server smiling nervously as she placed a plate of roast beef and vegetables in front of him, then herself before Hyde.

“Thanks Darlin,” Thorn gave the young girl a wink, smiling as she blushed once again at him.

“Let me know if you need anything else” biting her lip, she smiled before hurrying away to unload the rest of her tray to the other two wolves waiting at a nearby table.

His smile fading, Thorn picked up his fork.

“Shouldn’t he be here by now?”

“He will be,” Hyde’s fork stabbing into the meat as he gestured for her to eat.

“We are late enough as it is,”

He lifted his gaze and stared at Thorn until the younger wolf shifted and lowered his eyes in submission.

Her skin prickling with the energy between the men, Talia kept her own eyes on her plate.

Grateful when the both of them went back to eating without another word. Both clearly tense, both clearly wanting to say more.

Another bike pulling into the car park caught Hyde’s attention, lifting his head. Pushing his almost clean plate away, his eyes turned to watch the door. Talia looked towards the door as it was pushed open, only to see another man in biker leathers. The words Vice President over the patch of the Titans on his jacket confirming what she already knew. She was in their territory. This was the city she needed to avoid. Her heart sinking even more at the sight of the black medicine bag he held in his hand as he strode over.

He was tall and broad, good looking for a biker. His hair was short and ruffled by the wind of his ride, and his eyes, when he looked at her for a brief second, were full of sympathy.

“Valentine” Hyde stood, his hand grasping the other man’s forearm.

“Glad to see you back” lowering his head, the Vice President returned Hydes grip before nodding at Thorn. The younger wolf shuffling over, making room at the booth for the newcomer to join them.

“Any later and I’m not sure how warm your welcome would be,”

“Some jobs take more time than others. Draven knows this,”

“The king is...” his eyes glancing at Talia Valentine adjusted his words “unsettled. Ryder has not fared well in the time that you’ve been gone,”

Ryder the name flashed through Talia’s mind.

An image from the first dream so long ago filled her mind. The man hanging from silver chains, almost dead. His eyes were desperate as Hyde had walked into the room.

Her power flaring, she gripped the table. As her sight filled her vision.

The young man was no longer a man, but a blind wolf, bound to a large oaken desk. His whole body shaking as the door opened to the room. Shiny black shoes approaching with even steps, making the wolf whine and shrink back into himself.

Choking on the wolfs fear, Talia gasped for air as a well-manicured hand lowered...

Hyde hands shaking her shoulders, causing her to blink rapidly. The vision fading away as she tried to focus on his face.

“He is in so much pain,” she gasped, without thinking. Her hands gripping onto his jacket. Barely aware of the tears trailing over her cheeks. Her waking visions were never wrong. Whoever this wolf was, he was suffering.

“His eyes... Hyde, he has been blinded,” holding her by both her shoulders. She watched his eyes widen for the briefest moment. Saw the pain, the guilt flash across his features before the stern mask fell back into place.
