“He didn’t harm me!” Stepping in between them, her words pouring out in a rush. “He saved me. I was in ... in trouble. If it wasn’t for Hyde, I would ... be dead,”

Her breath catching, Talia repressed the urge to flinch away at Draven’s touch. His icy fingers gently caressing her cheek under the dark bruise.

“Soft-hearted, forgiving. As always” smiling a little, Draven moved closer to her. Forcing her to step back or raise her chin to look up at him. Tightening her jaw, Talia refused to move. Her face rising to stare back at him.

“That they hurt you at all is unforgivable. But if you wish,” Rolling his knuckles over her chin and down her jaw, Draven moved past her. “I will spare him this day,”

Unable to take her eyes off either of them. Talia let out a slow, pent up breath. Hydes glowing eyes drifting off her to follow his master’s movements.

“Kneel to me, Alpha, and your reward will be yours,”

With only a moment of hesitation, Hyde dropped to one knee. His head bowing under Draven’s hand. His fist tightly pressed against the stone floor.

What was the price for kidnapping her? What was offered? To make a man like Hyde kneel to anyone?

Her skin prickling with the feel of power rising between them. Hydes head lifting to look past Draven to her. Letting out a shuddering breath, the red of his wolven eyes fading away to a perfect ice blue. His beast sinking back deep within him as his face lost most of the tension he had been holding.

“Go. collect Ryder. Take the time to heal him” Hyde stood slowly, his eyes back on his master. Distrust radiating off him as he watched the vampire king turn back to her.

Smiling, Draven moved towards her. His dark eyes intense.

“I find myself feeling generous, now that my wife has returned to me,”

CHAPTER ELEVEN

Wife.

The word hadn’t stopped reverberating around his skull since he left the Citadel.

She was Draven’s wife.

His wolf prowling deep within him, howling denial in his mind. But it didn’t change the fact she was Draven’s. Like no other woman would be.

Wife.

Shaking his head in disbelief, Hyde gave a snort of laughter. It was all just one massive joke. Why the fuck did he care? He didn’t have to care anymore. He had done his job.
