Her breathing quickening. Talia stared at the man, who had risen from the lounges arranged by the ornate fireplace. Turning, he stood facing the door.

The man from her nightmares.

With every step that brought her forward, Talia felt her trembling, growing worse. His long black hair curling over the perfect collar of his business shirt. His eyes. Dark and intense, watching her every move as Hyde brought her closer and closer.

He wasn’t as tall or as broad as Hyde. His face was handsome, yet refined. But something warned Talia that he was just as dangerous. If not more.

His gaze took everything in about her. From her tied back hair to the oversized shoes.

“Navina,” he breathed as Hyde brought her to a stop in front of him. His hand was warm on her lower back. It was all she could do not to hide behind him.

“Talia Simmons,” Hydes deep growling voice making her jump. “As you requested”

“You are just as beautiful as I remembered” his voice was deep, masculine, coiling between them like something living.

“I’m sorry” Talia frowned. She would have stepped back if Hydes hand wasn’t so firm on her back. “I dont know you”

“Are you so sure of that?” stepping forward, the vampire took her hand.

Other than nightmares for the last few weeks, she knew without a doubt that she had never met the vampire in front of her. Yet as his dark eyes stared into hers. She felt every hair on her arms raise. There was something beyond the fear twisting through her at his touch. A sense of déjà vu creeping over her as he gave a bow. His every movement was familiar.

“Let me introduce myself. I am Draven Blackwood” smiling he brought her hand to his lips. Pressing a kiss against her skin. Her stomach tightening even more at the intimate look in his eyes. Surely, he was only the vampire monster from her nightmare. Yet even his voice echoing in her ears seemed to tease at something unknown deep in her stomach.

“Vampire king of America,”

She was sure she was supposed to be impressed. But she couldn’t think past the dull headache throbbing with even more with her growing confusion. Every muscle aching with exhaustion. She was over the whole thing. He might kill her or worse, but for the first time, she was simply too exhausted to care.

Pulling her hand free, Talia shook her head. “I really don’t want to be here. “

His dark eyes narrowing, Draven’s smile started to slip. Staring at her face, his head titled.

“You come into my home bruised and hurt?”

Hyde stepped to the side, creating a distance between them. Talia shivered, even as her blue eyes focussed on the vampire in front of her.

“I didn’t come into your home. I was kidnapped. Brought here against my will.”

Ignoring her words, Draven tilted her face towards the light of the fire.

“Who hurt you?”

Her breathing catching for a moment, Talia blinked. She didn’t want to give that nightmare a voice. She didn’t want to say it out loud. Pulling her chin out of his grip, she stepped back.

Shooting Hyde a nervous look, her voice more hesitant than she wanted as she searched for the right words.

“It was my fault, and it dosn’t matter anymore...” before she could finish her sentence. Draven had turned.

Hydes head snapping back as he spun with the force of his master’s blow. Before she could even gasp a breath. Draven’s fury had driven Hyde back under a rain of blows. Growling under his master’s assault, Hyde doubled over. Refusing to fall. His fist clenching, he didn’t return the assault. His body jerking with each hit.

Why wasn’t he fighting back.? Hyde was double the size of the vampire in front of him. She had seen him slaughter a room full of men in mere seconds, and yet now he did nothing against the storm of blows raining down on him.

“You filthy cur” moving around Hyde. Draven glared as the wolf straightened. His nose bleeding, Hyde rolled his shoulders back and faced his master. His face was an unemotional mask. His red wolven eyes glowing in the dim lighting of the room.

“Master” Hyde’s voice was even. No sign of any emotion as he stood waiting for the next blow.

“I never gave you permission to harm her,”

Gasping in the sudden absence of violence, Talia moved towards them both.
