At Ghost’s nod. Talia let Hyde’s hand rest back on the bed as she stood. Turning to face the wall, she unzipped the jacket. And let it fall from her shoulders to her elbows.

“Nice” giving a half laugh of surprise, she looked down at Hyde. His head turned to look at her fully, his gaze taking in the side view of her exposed breasts.

Crossing her arms as a warm flush filled her cheeks. Shaking her head at him. She pulled the sides of the jacket up to cover her breasts, even as his eyes closed.

Touching the edge of lacerations that Draven had given her before Hydes intervention. The Doctor sighed.

“You’re going to need stitches. And a blood test,”

“Why a blood test?” Pulling the jacket back over her shoulders, Talia ignored the pain that the movement shot through her. She had thought stitches might be needed, but if not for Hyde, she would be much worse.

Turning back to Hyde, the doctor looked back at her. His eyes regretful.

“Hyde’s blood has mixed with yours. He might have infected you.”

“With what?”

“Lycanthropy,”

CHAPTER TWENTY

Stitched and clean, Talia sat on her bed. Her eyes staring at the massive portrait of herself in another life. Her gaze was steady, her chin raised with a strength of knowledge that seemed to radiate out from the painting.

A strength she wished she had now.

What the hell was she supposed to do now?

Her whisky sat on the side table by the headboard of the bed. Four glasses as the stitches went in and now the ice melted as she was lost in thought, staring at the painting.

Hyde’s cleaned and drying jacket lay over her feet. Her fingers running over the president patch idly. There had been no good news. The blood that they were giving him was barely keeping him alive. Without his ability to heal, his body could simply give up. The damage was so extreme.

He could actually die and it would all be because of her. The guilt was suffocating.

Across the room, Ghost’s phone beeped to life.

Her pulse quickening, she relaxed as Ghost met her worried look with a shake of her head.
