Stepping between them, Ghost placed her palm fully in the centre of his chest.

“Because I gave it to her,”

“Take it off,”

“The jacket stays” Hyde’s voice was breathless but firm. “With her”

Flickering, her eyes open, Talia crouched by the bed to meet his red-eyed gaze. Letting out her pent up breath, she hadn’t realised she had been holding.

“Hyde” she spoke his name like the prayer it had become.

“Hey Princess” His voice was coarse and breathy. His lips twisting into what she could only imagine was an attempt at a smile.

“I’m so sorry, this is all my fault,”

“Draven did this, not yo.u..” his whole body started to convulse as he struggled to cough.

“You know better than to try to talk Hyde” A well-dressed man made his way into the hospital room. Peeling off his coat as Thorn came in behind him, carrying a large chest with both arms.

His breathing shallow, Hyde struggled to nod. His eyes closing, yet his grip on her fingers didn’t lessen.

“I’m Doctor Livingstone.” With the scent of blood in the air, the doctor’s nose was flaring, but his calm eyes took in the damage. Whatever he was thinking was hidden as he turned back to the chest that Thorn had now thrown open.

Lifting out a blood bag with Hyde’s name on it. He moved over to the other side of the bed. Hanging the blood bag on a hook, he set about setting up a cannula on Hyde’s free hand.

Staring over at Thorn, she shook her head. That was a lot of blood bags with Hyde’s name on them.

Following her gaze, Thorn shrugged. His face was serious as he looked over at her.

“that’s’ a lot of his blood you have ready” the chest was the size of a medium esky. And it was packed to the brim of blood bags with Hyde’s name on them all.

“This has happened before” Talon’s voice held none of its usual teasing tone.

“Not like this. This is bad.” the Doctor’s voice was distracted as he was setting up another blood bag.

“Draven has done this before?” How could any of her once have loved him? The man was nothing but a narcissistic sadist. What kind of idiot had she been in a past life?

Leaning against the wall, Ghosts face watching every action the doctor made. As if memorising his method. Her voice distracted, she spoke absently.

“Hyde will step up when he can to take our punishments. He takes the abuse meant for us. “

Looking down at his fingers holding tight to hers, Talia shook his head. For a demon werewolf kidnapper, Hyde kept proving there was more to him than she could ever imagine.

“Is that all your blood?”

Jumping at the sound of the doctor’s voice so close to her, Talia looked up as a tear slipped down her cheek.

“What?”

Gesturing to her legs, splattered with blood. The doctor frowned.

Glancing down, Talia sighed as she shook her head.

“Most of it is his,”

Exchanging a glance with Ghost, the doctor shook his head.

“Please stand and take off the jacket,”
