The sight of the massive grounds sent a thrill through Talia’s body.

The roaring parade of bikes around the small hatchback heralding their arrival, making it impossible to be missed.

Every head turning to look as Scythe pulled himself out of the driver’s seat, striding with determined focus to open Ghosts’ door. He moved to lift her out. Hitting his hands away, she growled.

“Fuck off, I can walk” her firm voice was breathy

“Prove it,”

Swinging her legs out, she pulled herself to her feet. Her whole body swaying into the large Lycan as her legs almost gave way.

Swearing a little, his arms wrapping around her. His hands swooping under her knees, he picked her up, cradling her against his chest. His dark eyes staring at Talia briefly.

“Stay,”

With a loud thud, he kicked the door closed and began to climb the ornate stairs of the mansion.

There was so much blood filling the seat where Ghost had been sitting. There was no mistaking the fact she had taken the bullet meant for her.

Someone had tried to kill her. The thought was almost too ludicrous to fathom, but there was no denying the blood that was pooling in the cheap car fabric.

Her hands trembling, Talia sat back and tried to slow her breathing. She thought the tales of the Inquisition were nothing more than a myth; something that Draven had exaggerated to excuse his own actions. But they had spent years burning witches, slaughtering vampires and hunting down Lycans. She realized just how real their threat was. Though the Roman Church had disbanded them over a century ago, they still existed and right now they were hunting her.

She smoothed down the ivory satin of her dress over her knees. Trying to ignore her shaking hands as she watched the werewolves moving around the car and the busy preparation for what looked like a bug out.

She understood the glares. First, they almost lost their alpha while protecting her from a misunderstanding. Then Ghost, the only woman in the pack, got injured while trying to keep her safe..

The air was thick with tension as people packed their vehicles with camping gear, sending hostile glances her way. The werewolves obviously seen her as nothing more than Draven’s troublesome queen.

Her eyes drifting to the large mansion doors. She almost expected to see Hyde. A ridiculous thought. The last report they had received from the doctor was that he was going to be bedridden for at least another few months. There was no way she was going to see his large form stalking towards her.

But she looked anyway. Hoping to see his face set in a glare, his red eyes staring at her. His strength that once frightened her was one of the few things that had ever made her feel safe in this crazy adventure. And right now, she craved it.

But Draven had told her how dangerous a healing wolf could be. Making her promise not to see him. But there was no way that Hyde would ever hurt her. He was her... He was..

Frowning, she struggled to finish the thought.

Jumping in her seat, she turned to see the front driver’s door swinging open. Thorn slid in with a grin as he turned to look over his shoulder at her.

“Damn girl, you are always getting yourself in trouble aren’t you, but I like that about you,” giving her a flirty wink, he turned the car engine to life.

“Let’s get you back to where you belong. “

With a nod and a half smile, she forced herself to ignore the strange pull at her heart as the car drove away from the clubhouse. Refusing to look back, the roar of her biker guard all around was familiar and strangely comforting as they made their way back to the city.

Back to Draven.
