“Get in, stay low,” his voice hurried.

Without hesitation, she hitched the skirts and lay down on the back seat as Ghost slammed the door behind her.

Within moments he had hot-wired the small car, the engine spluttering to life before he threw it into gear. Reversing it out into the small lane way behind the wedding dress shop, his foot hitting the accelerator hard.

Staring up at the roof of the car, Talia gripped the seat hard, sliding and bouncing with every turn of the wheel. Ghost’s voice on the phone demanding back up, echoing in her ears as they drove as fast as the little car would allow.

No more rifle shots echoed out behind them as they drove. In fact, it was finally the sound of Harleys filling the air around the car that made her creep up and peek out of the window.

More Titans than she had ever seen on the road before were surrounding the small hatchback as they drove.

Dwarfed on all sides, the car finally slowing. How big was this actual pack? Just having them around her eased a tension she didn’t know she had. Swallowing hard, she sat up. Pulling the veil off her head with a shaking hand, she bunched the tulle together as she forced herself to take a deep breath.

Staring at the veil in her hands, her eyes widening as her brain made sense of what she was staring at. Flesh red blood had stained the delicate material.

It wasn’t her blood; she knew she wasn’t hurt. Not even a scratch. Her gaze jerking to where Ghost sat. Her hand reaching to grasp her shoulder.

“Did you get shot?”

“Its nothing” glancing over her shoulder, her head motioning to the seat beats. “Buckle up,”

“It’s not nothing,” shooting the Lycan beside her a glare. Ghost frowned at him. “You’re not healing,” he stated, shrugging casually when she glared at him. “

“I know, silver coated. But we get her to the club first,”

“Stupid,”

“If I wanted your opinion, Scythe,” her voice a controlled growl, “I would have fucking asked,”

“The doctor is not at the club” Talia leaned forward between the seats. Draven had sent Hyde to be cared for at his home, with the doctor in attendance. “If it was silver, that can kill you, right?”

“This is not a problem. I have plenty of time to get you safe and get back to the barracks.”

“Silver can kill us” Scythe’s deep voice was matter of fact as he kept his eyes on the road.

“Not helping,” Ghost gave a heavy sigh. “Talia, my job is to keep you safe first. We are going back to the club.”

Ignoring her, Talia turned to Scythe.

“We drop her off first at the doctors,” meeting his gaze in the rear-view mirror for a moment

“After all, no one would dare attack the Titans in their stronghold just to get to me, right?” she held her breath even as she spoke

There was no way she could handle Ghost dying because of her.

She had caused too much pain and injury to others recently. She would not sit by and do nothing.

“No, Scythe, we can’t risk it,”

Keeping her gaze on the mirror, Talia gave a half smile. “I will make sure Draven understands. “

Giving a nod, he pressed the accelerator a little faster.

Swearing at them both, Ghost eventually gave up when she realised that neither of them was listening.

The car wove through the packed city streets, With a burst of speed, it roared past high-rises and passed the edge of town. Ahead, more Titans in weathered jackets and black helmets joined the guard. Their gaze shifting between the windshield and rearview mirror as they protected it from any potential threat. The car finally moving at a more casual speed as it left the city behind, the small hatchback a little rough around bends in the road before finally moving onto the picturesque bay road leading deeper into the rolling hills.

As Scythe moved the car up the long driveway of the barracks, she leaned forward in her seat. The club house of the Titans.
